Snow and Workplace Demands

Stay home. Workplaces dont give snow time anymore, they penalize workers who play it safe. Out of fear workers brave it in treacherous weather all the while forgetting that they should be home waiting it out.
Call off. Dont feel guilty. If you lose your car in an accident it is your problem. What if you get royally hurt? It is your problem!
Protect yourself. Nobody cares about you more than you and your family.
Dont be the boss's puppet and put down employees who play it safe. Thats a sign of weakness. Be safe.

I hope no doctors or nurses took your advise. It would suck if you were shoveling that snow, had a heart attack and when you got to the hospital they said "Sorry everyone called off today because someone online told them to."
You knew for a week that snow was coming. Most of the day it did not snow. You certainly could have gone in early before the snow.
I'm also guessing your family wouldn't be to proud if you got canned and couldn't feed them, but just blame your employer. It's easier than taking responsibility for yourself.

I know this post is a month late, but like most internet analogies, your hospital one is terrible.
Hospital employees do not go to work in severe weather, they stay at home and the ones that are previously there stay and work another shift. And again and again until it is deemed safe to drive.
I don't know what the whining is about though, roads are over salted before the snow even hits the ground. Very very few storms have been bad, and if your employer fired you over the blizzard in the early 90s or that one a couple years ago then... you're better off?
