Hickory, Morganton restrict water use
The cities of Hickory and Morganton announced mandatory water restrictions last week, joining a growing number of communities that are adopting restrictions to conserve water during the current drought and extreme heat.Hickory's restrictions apply to its customers, which include many cities and communities in the region.
Under the restrictions, southeast Hickory, southwest Hickory, Brookford, Conover, Claremont, Catawba, Maiden, Mountain View, Sherrills Ford, Bandys and Banoak may water outdoors from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays. Read more

And Cabarrus County wants to pull 32 million gallons a day out of the Catawba River. Have you been out on the river lately. Many places on Lake Norman are dry ground.
