its too bad that apple decided to go with AT&T and to go with them exclusively. Hopefully some other carriers will be able to come on board and there will be some actual competition to improve the service. Lets face it if you are the only carrier..why would you break your neck to make things better?

cingular / att wireless have had very serious issues with service even BEFORE the merger and will not thier problems sorted out for a long time, if at all. Apple giving them exclusive rights to the iphone for several years will only burn them, making this yet another sad story for the cingular/ att wireless abyss. Cheers to all of you!

I got an iPhone and wow man - this is one amazing piece of technology. I had friends who said that it would be nothing special, that "they could get the internet on their phones", well after letting them play with it for about 20 min they both drove down to Littleton and each bought one the same day. Ya - it's pricey alright - but hey, ya gotta have it!

So... why not get a laptop for the price. A little easier to browse the internet on it.. and you don't have to pay AT&T a ridiculous amount for mobile webaccess.

Oh.. I forgot.. your MAC fans, you won't buy a laptop unless it costs $4,000

Why stand in line for a piece of crap phone that you paid way too much for only to be told that you can't activate it? Didn't anyone do any research before they bought it? AT&T Sucks.

I stood in line for just one hour, waited for another 30 minutes to have "my turn" at the cash register.

Got home and activated my iPhone in less than 3 minutes.

The thing is coooool!

I'm sure there are some who didn't have the "breeze" of a time I did ... Sorry t'hear about that.

I have been a Cingular/AT&T customer for over 10 years with no more complaints than would have been with ANY other carrier.

I love my new high-tech phone!

This would have happened at any wireless carrier with the large amount of activation request, believe me I work at a wireless carrier and not AT&T

After creating a magnificent high tech device, Steve Jobs dropped the ball when he turned over his baby to AT&T. I just spent $700 dollars on a new iphone and accessories and I've got no where to go and nothing to do with it. I am not a techie but rather a pragmatic individual who sees several practical applications of any device with the iphone's versatility and Apple's technology.
Over twenty years ago I built an office and spent more time with AT&T BS than I did with the entire office construction. Now that AT&T has re-emerged by combining their old companies, their old habits appear to be following them.

I have had at&t since 2000 and still got them as my service provider, I had no problem with them and it gtot better when sbc bought them out,sbc owns cingular at&t sold everything to sbc so that means at&t is now sbc, sbc dicided to change there name to at&t, and that is why cingular is now called at&t its all sbc and nothing has changed you all are falling into there game and dont even know it the at&t you know now is actully sbc they just took at&t name because they want to collect the old former at&t customers debt they owe at&t sbc wants to cellect all in the name of at&t. do your research before you make your claims of at&t when its actully sbc good luck to you all

First I know it is a long post but I wanted to get correct info and details. Well I used to work for Cingular (now AT&T wireless) in the late 90's about a dozen small companies came together to form Bellsouth Mobility DCS, through several more mergers the Name was changed to Cingular Wireless (Bellsouth Mobility had a bad reputation). Cingular wireless was a partner ship that was 60% Bellsouth and 40% SBC.

In 2004 Cingular wireless (which operated as a individual company even though it was a partnership) purchased the AT&T cellular company. They needed parts of their network for further penetration and also needed their data network (cingulars before the merger was even worse and immature compared to other companies) Cingular did a co-branding for the first year and after this got rid of the AT&T name all together. That is why near the end of 2004 the color scheme went from all orange to orange and blue. They advised us of this grand plan to get rid of the AT&T name and merge completely into Cingular.

SBC meanwhile in 2005 purchased the AT&T landline company (although there was some cell service in parts of ohio) SBC then takes on the AT&T name not because of the debt collection but because of name recognition and branding. Since they bought out AT&T they already would have the right to collect any debts. When the merger took place we had a huge meeting and internally theuy started pushing the Worlds largest communication angle instead of the Unites States angle. Since AT&T had worldwide recognition and SBC did not.

Now for Bellsouth, It was purchased by the New AT&T (former SBC) and merged into one new large AT&T. Since ownership of Cingular was now in the hands of one company they wanted to brand everything the same thus Cingular becomes AT&T once more. All that money to get rid of the AT&T brand name to just change it back 2 years later. Waste of money and time.

I have a complaint about the iphone carrier network service & AT&T. I waited for 12 hours to be first in line to get one. I was surprised about a flyer they handed out to us one by one before we could buy a iphone about the 10% restocking fee for opened packages. I thought OK I will probably be keeping the iphone because APPLE makes an excellent product. I am first in line & the cash register that I am at freezes up I go to a second register & that freezes up. I have been in line for 12 hours I have to pee like a race horse & they will not let me use their bathroom.
I am standing there as other people leave with their new iPhones before me & I am turning yellow & losing feeling in my legs from crossing them so tightly together so I do not pee my pants. AT&T said if I leave the store to go to the burger king next store that the policeman & AT&T will not let me in & I would have to get at the end of the line of 50 other people! The iPhone went on sale at 7:00PM & here at almost 7:30 & finally the register comes to life I get my iPhone and rush out to use a bathroom .
I brought it home & eagerly download the itunes update so I could activate my prize.
The itunes did the activation seamlessly I was not surprised because APPLE is a great product easy to figure out. We all sat at the kitchen table by the window in a one story house & everyone wanted to see this cool iphone & what it could do.Imagine my surprise when I am sitting at my kitchen table & I have "NO SERVICE" no bars no nothing no service. Everyone else had 3 bars on their Verizon phones plus my verizon had 3 bars.
I had to go outside to get service with only 1 to 2 bars. The web data was crawling in slow motion a real pain. The iphone had no service in the stores but my verizon. Well I said enough is enough & paid $15.95 in listing fees to sell it on ebay. I Listed it for $700.00 then went to the AT&T store to cancel my activation in their 3 day no charge period, no charges for minutes used & no activation fee charge.I bought the phone about 7:30PM 06/29/07 on Friday night. I brought it back on Monday 07/02/07at 5:00PM.
Imagine my surprise when I was told I had to bring the iphone back to AT&T or be charged an early termination fee for canceling out my account because of there inferior network. "NO " where did it say I had to give the phone back or pay an early termination fee of $175.00 for being on their lousy network service for under 3 days of use.
So I go back home steaming mad & pull my ebay listing & bring back the iphone so they can get their $59.90 restocking fee plus I am out of the $15.95 I paid ebay for a 1 hour listing.#$$%^&*.
I loved the iphone but APPLE picked a lousy network to launch it with. Verizon is such a better & bigger network & there data for the web runs much faster. I am retired and on a fixed income & I was burned a about total of $137.85 from AT&T that includes their $59.90 restocking fee, My removed ebay $15.95 listing fee,$36.00 activation fee, & aproxamently $36.00 or more for phone & data use of the iphone for less then 3 days@#$%^&.
I am so mad I am ready to post all this on my ebay site in which I have almost 575 positive feedbacks any potential customers like to get info from someone so reliable. I can list an eletter for under a dollar & post for all to see for free how AT&T is making us jump through hoops With the iphone & taking our money!.SO every one can hear my 2 cents worth about AT&T.
I now have a Treo 700P with Verizon they took real good care of me because of the Apple AT&T fiasco I went through. I received discounts & a waived activation Fee . All this made up with the loss's caused by the iphone AT&T rip off.
Verizon network & data lines work fast & great.
I sent a letter to Apple & the response just came in & they can not meet my request for free software of OS Leopard to cover my money loss's but only will give me an apology.
Not nice "APPLE CORPORATE" now I will post this on many blogs as possible.

I live on a barrier island in FL and had terrible receprtion from Verizon. I just bought an i-phone. The reception is worse. I doesn't work in my house AT ALL. My wife never received her new Blackberry from ATT. Ten days later and we are still waiting. ATT has done nothing but keep us on hold for literally hours and switch us to other operators an lie to us. My plan was suppose to cost $169 a month. Now I find out that it is $249 a month. I can't cancel because I can't reach a representative with the authority to do so.

they are NOT 4,000 bucks....they are only $3999.00 and I can't wait to get one so that I can't work from home and have to switch my entire life over to MAC programs, which will not interface with any of my work programs. I won't get an Ipod either because you can't download from different sources AND they don't have any of the music I want to get. correct. Out of 4 million songs, they have nothing that I can't get elsewhere.

My laptop cost $499.00 a year ago, works excellent and does EVERYTHING I need it to.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Gemini

Mercury will backtrack through your finances over the next few weeks, which isn't a very seasonal thought if you're already well aware that you've overspent this month. Be prepared to do some juggling or to seek expert advice if you're worried about how you're going to cope. You may be kept busy handling inheritance, tax or insurance matters, preparing investment analysis, and allocating funds for the repayment or collection of debts.
