I am a Penn State student and I am doing a feasibility study on putting a stop light in Shermans Dale. I was wondering if there have been studies done by the local government and also the general opinion on the subject. Please let me know what you think or if you know where to find any information.

Why do we need a stop light? I sit in enough traffic from harrisburg. Next thing we will have cameras and all that crap. I moved here to get away from that stuff.

I enjoy living in Perry County. You sit in traffic enough on Route 34 going and coming home from work. I would rather see stop signs than stop lights. There are at least 3 problem areas and at all of the 3 I can think of on Route 34 a stop sign would allievate the danger. We don't need a stop light!
Perry County is a great place to live, it is beautiful to drive through the countryside and enjoy the beauty without the stress of sitting at stop lights! If anything I feel something needs done with Route 34 and Starrets Gap. In the mornings you just sit in traffic going to work. Have you looked at that aspect of the traffic flow? I think stop lights can be stressful!

How about doing a feasibility on something at University Park and let Perry County alone.

Good for you - be sure to move into the area after and commute using this route every day in work traffic! Then after let us know about your great success!
Tell you what, the intersection at the Village Square needs but one thing. Make the entrance/exit only from the route 850 side and let the existing one onto route 34 become an exit only.
Several years ago a fantastic thing occured here. The bank that blocked the view to the south onto route 34 was cut back so you can see. The only problem I experiance is that even though there has been the addition of a left turn lane onto route 850 too many people seam bent on turning in off of route 34 where they cannot see past the rise in the road! Make this an exit only, force the use of the left turn lane and 850 an entrance and you have a completed project!
If you do the study, then please be aware of the increased cost of lost time and increased usage of fuel for the people who commute there as well as the increased emmisions to our environment!
We too often do not factor in the "real" picture. We seem to endeavor to solve but a mear part of the problem without having the forsight to see the newly created problems when we change traffic patterns!
Be aware of this and you will go far!
