I have heard that minorities aren't welcome in shepherdsville. Up until a few years ago the military warned (black) soldiers not to go there after dark. Everyone I ask denies knowing what's happened there, but quickly changes the subject. Can anyone tell me what happened? And if it's still as bad there today?

I have lived here five years and I see minorities here all the time. Never heard of any being abused or picked on. Heck I think some even live here. But there really isn't anything to do here after 9:00. The town shuts down early.

I can,we have the KKK out here, still.Interracial couples are looked down upon,we don not like it.It's not that we don't like blacks,we just don't want them out here.

I have lived right across the Bullitt County line for about 15 years and 15 years ago there were NO minorities out here. When you seen someone of color, you knew they were just passing through.
When I went to work in Louisville, I invited some friends over and some of them were black and they firmly said that there was no way they were coming to Bullitt County.
The more I got involved with the community, I realized how racist people really were out here, then I found out that the Grand Poobah Wizard Deluxe of the KKK lived out here on Hwy 44. Thats really the heart of Bullitt County and Shepherdsville and the farther south you go the worse it gets. Try Lebanon Junction on for size, that is racism central.

They're afraid of anyone that is smarter then they are. They're afraid of the unknown or anything different from them. Ignorance.

Have you looked around this place lately??? It's a dump. That's not due to anyone but the low life trash that already inhabit this back water hell hole.

I have lived in Bullitt County for 50 years now, we have had blacks living here the entire time. You people just want to stir up shit. We treat everyone the same. If you don't like our county get the HELL out!

It's sad to me that organizations like KKK are able to exist still today. Hatred against an entire race of people based of what? Aren't white people in the wrong for enslaving them in the first place? It's one thing to make a mistake, it's another to learn from it. Sometimes in order to do that you must step outside the box and look at the whole pisture. It's easy to say that racism is ignorace, which I agree, however how the problem remedied is a bit more difficult. What are these hateful people teaching their kids?

The McSame & 2-Fer offer zilch.

I feel there is a need for someone in Obama's campaign or perhaps on the periphery
who might articulate as to the historic nature of what an Obama presidency would do for the USA and the people of the world, apart from the merits of the wonderful plans he articulates for our safety
(be it economics, education, health, energy ...)

We know that he will excite most Afro-Americans
(as is natural) and those who see an opportunity for getting America back on a common sensical tack for our survival.

A Barak presidency would send a message of monumental import to counties far and wide. In the US, the history which bears the stain of a past (that does little to make for a real exhilirating pride), what an a Barak Obama presidency would bring, boggles the mind.

An America in harmony with the world, 85% of whom, looks like Barak.

The damage of the Bush2 presidency erased. Hope
restored for fair and balanced diplomacy.

Enemies made for obscure agendas revisited,
for an all inclusive American continent. Non
NAFTA, CAFTA, Shafta abuse.

What a novel concept - willing to talk to humans everywhere/anywhere.

Our sworn enemies would be of lesser beings - no whitey to antagonize them.

Blacks in the USA no longer able to lay the whine uber alles.

The urgency of Now is upon us - none other than Barak can bring such benefits for our survival. Jesus-like, we will not regret doing the right thing this time, in the history of Man/Woman.

Just reading the above post and comments on it, appears clear to me that the some people in Shepherdsville do at least still have attitude ties to racism. But it also appears to be dieing out. So there is nothing to do after 9:00 pm, and the place is a dump (as someone said). In a way it appears like this town is being taken over. Its not from seperate races, its from those that dont accept change, or allow change in their town. The world is everchanging, and if you dont accept change you will be left behind.
Looking at Shepherdsville it just goes to show, the ones that have a hard time letting go probably are alot of the same ones that are living in the run-down double wide trailers, and try to save what they have with walls around their community. Last generation they were probably the ones with the nicest houses in the community. Times change and people have to also. Our country is great and overlooks people's temporary issues. Alot of the people right now are complaining about supporting wellfare, these are going to be the same people that could be using it in the future.
I'll stay working paying my taxes even for those closed minded people, because their children might need help in the future, and I'm not going to withhold help from them just because their parents were unwilling to change. You can choose to step foward and grow, or you can live in the past and let the future generations pass you by!

Half of these people on here don't know what they are talking about and the others are just wanting to know...

Here's the truth... There are MANY minorities in Shepherdsville. African Americans, Asian, Latino, Indian, and others. While the some "Older folks" still harbor the 1940's thoughts... Everyone lives and plays together here. There's no burning crosses or anything.

TruthMachine is telling it like it is. There are all peoples living in Shepherdsville...good hard-working peoples...and no problems. And just because there aren't the number of blacks living there as there are in Jefferson or Fayette Counties doesn't mean it's a racist place...it's just too country and too quiet for many people.

I live and teach in Lebanon Junction and you are very wrong. Yes, many people are racist and you seem to be one of those people. I have enjoyed living in Bullitt County. I have the pleasure of interactng with many people in Lebanon Junction and I have never ran into anyone as stupid as you sound. You can't judge a whole town for a very few. If you judge our town then you must judge your own. I have meet many racist people in my life(black and white). We all need to stop looking at other's skin color and look a little deeper, because that is what matters in the end.
