He had a hit and run plus a DUI. I'm sorry but I expect lawyers and judges to know what the law is and then practice it. These sorry people prosecute and convict so many people with the excuse that 'ignorance of the law is no excuse.' The judge should at least resign and give up his license for a year.

Personally I'd like to see this guy do community service for the poor.

This A hole made ME pay a fine after I was caught driving with a suspended license. I accepted paying that fine and took my medicine but now after hearing this I shake my head. At least I have the pleasure of knowing I am not a drunk, nor so bad of a person that I would hit someone elses car and run away.

What a low life.

But Karma is a bitch isn't it? lol

I was driving home on Yelm hwy and seen a vehicle over a bank with the lights on and the driver trying to get his rig unstuck. I went down the bank and observed a man coming out of the drivers side of a 2000 GMC Yukon and was stumbling around. I recognized him as John Lyman former judge of Tumwater. He also confirmed who he was. I helped him up the bank as I was on the phone with 911. Mr. Lyman was not injured by the accident be he did stagger a lot and had trouble talking and walking. It was easy to tell he had been drinking. There appeared to be several hundred dollars in damage to a chain link fence and a drainage system.
Lacey Fire Department and Thurston County Sheriff arrived on the scene and examined Mr. Lyman.
I could not find any record of Mr. Lyman in any local jails but I was called later by TCSO asking questions about the accident.
Mr. Lyman is still on probation for DUI and two counts of hit and run.

Seems like it is the double standard thing again.
Had that been you or I it would have been jail, lost our license,$1000 fine, high risk insurance, breath machine installed, AA, & community service.
This guy craps through a meat pooper like the rest of us throw the book at this bozo!

Unfortunately, people in this state are able to amend down charge of DUI negligent driving 1 if they complete the required alcohol and victim panels in a year; some of the schooling is worst than others but others average once a week for a year. Judges and people get a pass in this state. This state does not take DUI seriously.
