Olympia may see LED streetlights
Thousands of Olympia streetlights could be converted from the traditional yellowish, high-pressure sodium lights to whiter, energy-saving LED lamps, in a project estimated to cost nearly $4 million.

GREAT! So tell us city of Olympia "light masters",,, will you turn the new lights off during the day to SAVE MONEY and CUT DOWN CITY EXPENDITURES? Or will you allow them to remain "ON" all day long LIKE YOU ALLOW THE CURRENT LIGHTS while the daylight is MORE than sufficient for safety and other reasons to have street lights in the first place?
This is an issue I've been noticing for the past 5 years and have called the city to inquire more than once - just like the water fountain downtown that local children play in when it's nice and warm out,,, you let that run and use electricity during grey rainy days when NO ONE IS USING IT.
That's right city of Olympia,,, while most of us can't afford the outrageous bills PUD sends our way or water for frivolous things like keeping grass green during our short but hot summers, you allow electricity to run all day and water to flow when it's pouring down rain - what's wrong with THAT picture?
Like I said in a previous post - we NEED local citizen watchdog groups to oversee the lazy squandering of our tax dollars.
