Thinking about moving to Watseka, but wanting it safe for my children and family...Anyone have any thoughts on our 911 system or police? Whether good or bad?

Police department is a joke, they spend half of their time in Casey's and the other half in Citgo. Drugs are in every neighborhood, just better hidden in some. Crime keeps climbing higher and higher. I can't remember the last time the fire department put out a fire in time to actually save the structure.

If you have kids, they don't stand a chance in school unless they have the right "name"

Believe me, if I could sell my property, I'd be gone, but nobody wants to buy in a town that floods and is getting worse all the time because of all the illegal fill that is continually being brought in.

well that's nice to know, drugs seem to be everywhere now a days, hell back in my day drugs weren't a problem where I grew up. Well How about the 911 system? I am moving from a small city in Indiana and theirs was a joke. I have an elderly mother who requires attention sometimes and they were nothing but rude every time I called,.what a joke!

I've only dealt with the dispatch center twice, and both times it wasn't an emergency so I had called the non-emergency number. However, I felt that they asked more questions than they needed to. To me, all they needed was the address, the nature of the problem, and my name. They wanted details, so of course I answered them, but to me it just delayed actually dispatching someone that would hopefully help me... they weren't any help, but of course that's beside the point. I don't know why I actually bothered to tell you the truth, I should have known that the WPD wouldn't do anything.

I hate this town...

As soon as you say you have a problem., someone is dispatched via computer. They ask the questions so the cops know what they're heading into. If you think they Suck so bad, don't call them... At least you have that option.

Sorry, chump, that is absolutely UNTRUE. When you call, THEY decide if they are even going to do anything. A call was made about a guy with a loaded handgun under his car seat who had just threatened to kill a girl (and had already raped her), the cops did nothing, and no one was dispatched at all. So, NO, they do not dispatch someone as soon as you call.

Oh look... An Internet tough guy. The reason the didn't respond to your alleged guy with a gun who is also a rapist is because they knew you were lying.

That's not true, the second time I called them was about the same problem,(neighbors from hell) and no one ever showed up, they called me. The first time I called, by the time they showed up over 45 minutes later, the neighbors had finally stopped their BS.

Who cares if they're punished? Maybe they should be... they're not doing their job, so there should be consequences. If they don't want to do their job, then maybe they should be fired and someone else trained to do the job. There are plenty of people out of work that would be grateful to have the opportunity. God knows that there aren't any jobs in Watseka.

By the way...
Forgot to mention that I had constant problems with my neighbors from hell all summer. I DIDN'T bother calling after the second time since they didn't do anything. I well imagine I'll have the same problems this summer...

I should have the right to live in my home, and be in my yard without having people's little children climb my trees (where I would be responsible if they fell), having their "weinie roasts" where they're burning trash (I have asthma), trying to sleep when their dogs are barking all night long, and listening to and feeling their loud nasty music with the bass cranked. That's just part of what I had to deal with.

IF you would READ my post, you will notice that I stated that I HAD called the NON-emergency number... and BTW, when I tried to talk to the neighbors from hell about the things that they were doing, they DID threaten to kick my *ss. I have the right to be able to be in my home without being bothered by other people. These people are approximately 250 ft from me, so if their dog is barking so much or their music is loud enough that I can't hear my TV over it, or can't sleep because of it, then it is considered a nuisance. I kept my windows closed at all times because of them, but when I could still hear it and still be unable to watch TV or sleep, then it's a real problem.
