DO NOT VOTE FOR AN INCUMBENT. They are all brothers and sisters, friends between parties. My friend Dickie and my friend John. It goes on and on. Holding hands and taking care of their own pocket books.

With their corrupt cronys and corporate welfare.

No wonder Illinois is at the bottom.

Illinois would be better off if they broke away from Crook County. Why does the rest of the state have to suffer at the hands of the massive corruption and insider deals that counter "Land of Opportunity"?

The opportunities that exist go to the highest bidder (corrupt union bosses) and quinn pro quo gladly participates. Private citizens will never get any opportunities while the tyranny of the democrats are in power!

DO NOT VOTE FOR AN INCUMBENT. Illinois is at the bottom thanks to both party crooks holding seats in the Senate and House. Quinn is out for sure. Belongs behind bars with Ryan and Blagojevich. An embarrassment to our Land of Lincoln, and land of opportunity.

Crook County is the problem with Illinois. The dems have Brainwashed people so much it is cult like. Pretty scary if you ask me. Plus I highly suspect those voting machines in Crook County are rigged.

Democracy is the Free Flow of ideas and the premise to Agree to Disagree !!! When someone disagrees with dems they destroy your livlihoods and life.

Democrats have to dictate and if they had their way Dissention would be against the Law like the madigans/obamas/rahmbo/quinn/b lago/durbin/etc.... want. By definition though that is a fragment of communism which the current democratic party in Illinois has subscribed to!!!! There is nothing these criminals will not do to stay in power !!!!!

Get out the vote is right. Check those voting machines and monitor them very carefully.

Although the voting process is crucial to the process of who gets into what particular office during any election cycle, what if corruption was not present at the time of election and instead transpired once office was achieved?

The recall mechanism is puny and malformed at best, as there are no recall options once you move past governor into one of the thousands of little government nodes all over Illinois. With so many players at so many levels, is it any wonder than chunks of content can go by virtually unnoticed let alone unattended?

So unless law enforcement involves itself in the process from some level, there is no trial option for a local government employee to be brought before while standing in virtually any other position.

The recall option should not be something that can be wielded without significant population involvement, but it should be available sooner than waiting for another election cycle. While the risk of a vacuum being created is ever-present under a variety of conditions, I believe I am talking loss of job, not loss of life choice via prison and waiting for resignation just isn't enough to rationalize why the practices of certain leaders is still so widely accepted amongst the enough.

Removing an incumbent does not guarantee there will be a changing of course, nor are all incumbents doing a poor job serving their constituency. Term limits aren't the cure either. We need a corrective tool able to be wielded while someone is in office and recall is at least an existing structure to start from.

This thread isn't about voting someone into office. This isn't even about who has or has not earned our vote, let alone the degree of corruptness of any political party.

This thread is about the recall mechanism and what other options we have once they are in office.

This thread should be about discussing what standards should be in place in order to measure who should stay and who should go while they are in office.

This thread should be about what thresholds must be crossed so that the people can recognize and activate an option to remove someone from office during their term.

You throw out words like "corruption" like its confetti and it seems the only solution offered here lately is posting messages designed to promoting voting for Rauner without referencing Quinn and with no rhyme or reason why I, or anyone else, should vote for Rauner over Quinn or even the other way around.

This thread is about what choices we have here in Illinois no matter who ends up in office at any time and for any reason.

And right now, Illinois does not have any clear path to recalling the Governor, let alone any other official voted into office.

Anyone actually have any ideas regarding the recall mechanism?

No we don't have a good recall method yet,
but the first step is to get people involved and vote.
it is appalling that we have such low voter turn out.
too many people are too busy keeping up with the Kardasions
or know who got voted off dancing with the stars but have no idea who some of their elected officials are or how they voted on issues.

I support term limits because I don't believe in career politicians,
and I believe that many get elected with good intentions but after years become out of touch with the people of our country and become corrupt or become part of the "ruling class" that start believing that they know what's best for us "We the People"

when we get enough people in elected office that are representing us and not them selves we can get meaningful legislation passed giving the people a method of recalling politicians that are corrupt or poor leaders

the other current option is to not re-elect these people. How many times has Mike Madigan been re-elected? to name one career politician that is not working for the average resident of the State.

WAKE UP PEOPLE !
