That's not right man be respectful it was an innocent life. I hope her parents get the strength she needs from God. She will be another angel and we will see her again one day. Condolences to the family.

You are a jerk to make a comment like that. Quite possible the young lady hit a patch of ice since the article says she "slid" into the opposite lane. As if the family and her friends aren't suffering enough, you have to immediately jump to the possible false conclusion she was texting. And even if she were, there is still another young life lost, and her loved ones are suffering.

Med-Central Shelby Hospital is in Shelby, Ohio, not Mansfield, Ohio. Still both are in Richland County though. They left out parts of the story though. The fire engine was in-service returning from a call. It belonged to Cass-Bloominggrove-Shiloh Joint Fire Department.

The Mansfield News Journal has the better story

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this young lady. What a terrible time of year to have this happen! May God give you peace and understanding. She is in a much better, safer place with her maker!! Hold on to that!

Thanks Tim T for the link. A MUCH better story. You actually know what happened. If the Dispatch can't get it right, then don't post anything at all. Oh wait, this may explain why there is so little central ohio information in the Dispatch.

I am with you. That statement was uncalled for. I hope you do not experience losing control of Your car and this happening to you. All auto accidents are scary and painful.

Columbus metro area news is such a joke. The Dispatch is a joke, WBNS is a joke, and unlike other major cities, we have no real news radio. WTVN used to be good, but after 7:00PM, there are no local news or traffic updates anymore.

To the heart of the matter: God bless this young lady's family. The holidays always seem to bring heartbreak and sadness. And to the idiot who supposed she was texting: Death is death no matter how it happens. It is sad, dark, and painful for those who survive, and shallow know-it-alls like you hopefully will get their just rewards.

Thanks for the link "Full Story." Tragic thing to happen any time of the year.
And come on Dispatch and/or WBNS, get your facts straight before posting your articles.

Texting is a real danger while driving. The other link with the who story said it may have been slippery road conditions. Either way, a 17 year old who had her whole life ahead of her is now gone. Please, everyone, learn from this and be more diligent when driving. Please be safe out there.

What a jerk off. Seriously!! Didn't need a comment like that made. There was no comment about her phone being used causing the accident. Another assumption made by someone who doesn't know what happen.

Whether the girl was texting, talking on the phone or just following too close.. Does not matter ... This young woman lost her life. Think about her family right now.. I hope they find the strength and the comfort they need to get through this terrible time in their life. Only God knows why this happened.
