Here's the deal folks....like it or NOT!! Those that don't agree with Gay and lesbian couples going to the prom are uncomfortable and NOTHING anyone says is going to change that! BUT, those who are gay are also not going to be changed (nor do I personally feel they need to be). There has GOT to be a way to compromise. If people really feel that a gay couple at prom is a bad influence on anyone, then they will grow up VERY sheltered, and that's fine. I just don't understand how taking away someones right to go to a dance benefits anyone. If so, they should band ALL dresses that show skin, ban any couple that have children, ban any kids that drink under age (with their parents permission), ban smokers under 18, ban any foul mouths, and so on.....Just because its not YOUR normal, doesn't me it shouldn't be anyone's. If we are getting all "its bad for other kids", then we should look at what's really bad, and BAN that. Just flippin compromise!!!

Shouldn't these parents be more concerned about all the premarital "activities" that will be taking place after all their kids get WASTED after the prom?

From what it sounds like, they are concerned about that as well! I just read through the news article, and through the comments on their facebook page, and its not all parents that are wanting this, it is students! If you all would do some research and reading of what is being proposed, none of the organizers or those involved in the spot light are judging or bullying as many have tried to state on here. They are standing up for what they believe in! Just like the homosexual couple have done at the school. How is it right to commend one group for doing something, yet condemn another for doing exactly the same thing? Who is being the closed minded individual in this case?

It's a shame...as I do not agree with being gay....that's my right...not my right to tell others how to live or what to do.I say let them go..you who don't want them there..you go somewhere else..your disgusting to discriminate others.

Oh, trust me, I have done my research!! I've read enough bologny that it makes me sick! How can you even compare the two! The gay community isn't telling the other they can't come to a function because they don't like the right ball team, or they are not "comfortable" with their heterosexual relationship. You are a fool to even try to say that they are both just standing up for what they "believe". I don't believe in the color orange on red heads, but I'm not going to tell them they aren't allowed to dance! Come on, that's just ridiculous!

I do have a serious question for you though....do you really think a few students should decide who gets to come to a prom? That's even worse than it just being concerned parents and faculty. That's awesome, let's all let the KIDS decide what's cool, dumb!

They aren't trying to keep the gay kids from going to prom, they are trying to organize they're own "traditional couple" dance away from the school! Apparently you haven't read!

I didn't realize the homosexual population of Sullivan, IN was large enough disrupt the high school prom.

I also didn't realize the place where I grew up was so cruel.

Tell me again how this is representative of the word of God?

I cannot beleive you are putting your school in the news like this. I just seen the story on channel 2 news. Let it rest do you really want this on national news for all to see. Think of all the people you have made mad. Some things are better left unsaid. Everyone has a right to live thier life the way they choose. You might not agree with it but its not your business.

I really hope the school has a great turn out and no one goes to the other prom. I really hope this stupidity don't cause kids down the road to loose prom all together. I hope the school don't let this hate cancel proms all together. That would be a shame to kids that have nothing to do with this. I'm glad there are a lot of people that don't feel the way these people who are causing such a mess over a few kids going that are same sex couples. Makes me feel a little better about where I'm from.

Sad how when one group doesn't agree with anothers beliefs they are labeled as bigots, haters, out of touch etc.

Thats's the kids who want to have their own prom. Not the gay kids, they are being treated as martyrs in this situation.

Times may have changed but you should show the kids who are sticking up for what they believe in some respect, the very same respect that the gay kids are wantng. It goes both ways.

I respect the anti gay crowd as much as I do the Klan and neonazis for standing up for their beliefs.
