KSP, you are so right about the stormwater project. It doesn't work, so we should not have to pay. When I buy something that doesn't work i expect a refund. This town is a joke. We actually have to go dig little ditches in our yards in my neighborhood just to drain a little of the standing water from our yards. Think I can send the town a bill? Why do we have to pay for a grant anyhow? Shelburn recieved a $500,000 grant. They only have to match 5% of that. Why are they screwing us? Hell who knows, we can't even go to the board meetings to ask.

The town board meetings are the second Monday of every month at 9 am. They say because a couple members work nights and can't attend them. Well what about the citizens who work days and can't attend the 9 am meeting. They should make these meetings at fair times where more people can attend. If these board members can't attend the meetings then they should have to resign so someone else who can attend at a fair time can step up. This town is getting ridiculous. I'd like to know where in the hell all the money is going that they collect for the "stormwater project" on our water bills. It obviously didn't go into properly repairing whatever it is they say they repaired. The town still floods. I saw no difference than before. Maybe channel 2 and 10 would be interested in hearing about all this wrong doing.

the attorney probably can't show up at 9 am because he's in court, if there even is an attorney. i'd say they are sick of public input and this is there little way of getting by with whatever they please.

well maybe the "attorney" is really a town clerk/treasuer that was looking into how to use that "new housing grant" for himself. from the looks of a certain house it looks like he figured it out. maybe i need to run against a certain someone.....i would love a fancy new home paid for by the town folk and the housing grants. oh, and lets not forget about the ridiculous fee we pay out monthly to cover a grant....which is free. anyone know why we're payig out the as* for a grant that doesn't even have to be paid back? what happened to the $500,000. hell maybe the whole family built new homes at our exspense. one thing i do know for a fact is town employees frequent wal-mart during working hours and purchase personal items with town credit cards. they also have cell phones at all times that are paid for by the town, that they use, use, use. i believe if you read somewhere it says they are only suppose to have these phones when on call. boy that would save some money if they eliminated personal use of credit cards and cell phones. i could go on and on and on, but it does no good. the towns been going to hell for years, but it's getting worse by the day now. we need some fresh young faces on the town board. it wouldn't hurt if they had some sense either!!!!

oh hell don't get me started on our police protection around here. most of the time theres only one county officer on duty to cover the entire county. our town cop is at home brewing a batch of good ol homemade beer and we all hope we never need their help. if the reserves are complaining that's just too bad. they are the ones who knowingly volunteered to work unpaid. it's not like they suckered them in then quit paying them. as for the town clown, he has two full time jobs that he gets paid for while only doing one. i believe it says somewhere that is not suppose to be allowed. i know the crazy b**ch you're speaking of. she needs to be in a damn straight jacket, but so do some of the town board members....lol maybe if we all start going to every meeting and recruit new people to go with us each time they'll get tired of us and we can get some change going on. i doubt it, but it wouldn't hurt to try. they make up their own rules as they go along. a certain town employee who was fired was also on the park board. he showed up for the park board meeting and was told he could no longer be on the board since he wasn't a town employee. there are others that are not town employees that are on the park board. i'd like to know why they can get by with all they are doing.

While I haven't been a resident of Shelburn my whole life I have lived here approximately 8 years, and in my 8 years I have seen many issues with this town. I have attended a few of the town meetings and done my share of complaining. Mostly about the dogs that run this town. Over the past few years I have become involved with things to do with the town (nothing to do with the town council), and gotten to see a little more about what goes on in this town or better yet what doesn't and should. One of my issues revolved around the Youth League. It's a shame to see the surrounding counties where our children play softball grow and have better grounds for the sport. It's not like Shelburn has a lot to offer our youth. But there are several children from this town that do play the sport and to see that there is no money during the season to make improvements is pathetic. The big question is why? You ask, you got answers like insurance prices, umpire fees, league fees, etc. Well that's a bunch of BS. I do understand that insurance and fees are high and they do raise, but what about the fundraisers and profits from the concession stand. After 7 years it's glad to see they are finally making some changes, hopefully for the better. I guess time will tell. On to another issue I see is a frequent one on this forum, the stormwater project. I have questioned my water bill for years. How does one's water bill go from an average of $120 a month for approx. 6 years for 4 people in a household up to $190 a month for a couple months, then even with the stormwater project fees, and radio read fees, down to less than $100 month for the last 2 months? I might add, nothing has changed in my family, I still do the same amount of laundry take the same amount of showers, and have even added a dishwasher in the last 2 years. Doesn't make much sense to me. Doesn't do a damn bit of good to question it, you get the same answer well you have a leak somewhere. Not that I'm complaining about it going down. It pisses me off to know I'm paying for a project that by no means even affects the part of town I'm living in nor will it ever. Well enough babbling for the night. I'll post more another day.

Town meetings are suppose to be for the residents of the town, not to benefit the town council. Therefore making these meetings at 9 a.m. is ridiculous and benefits this town in no way. They did this so that those that do actually care about what happens in this town can't go and voice their opinions and get the answers to their questions, because they are working real jobs.

The member of the park board you are speaking of in my opinion has right to reside on the park board if he was so elected to be. He is a taxpayer of this town, and the town council has nothing to do with the election of the park board members to my knowledge. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. He has done a lot for the town without him, I don't see anything getting done anymore. He was a great asset to the town. Many people are wanting answers to the way this matter was handled and why nobody on the park board was even notified of "The President" of the park board not being "The President" any longer. Nor was "The President" even notified of this.

Why would anyone want to be on these boards. They care enough to be on to help the town and all you people run them down. Kind of like the Lamb guy from Sullivan. One day everyone is patting him on the back, screws up once and hypocrtis like you all start bashing him. Not saying what he did was right, but damn. We've got good people on the Shelburn board. I don't always agree with them, but at least they care!!!

My children play baseball, and Shelburn Resident is so right. Our ball field is the worse one around. Where does all the money go? They are making a huge profit in that concession stand. The kids sale candy bars or candles or whatever, yet the money is not beibg put into the field as it should. When they get people who care on a board it seems as if they want to get rid of them as they did with the former town employee who was on the park board. This town is getting worse.

Who and where? There are many other people that would like to be part of this town, but just like everything in this town it is run by very few people and that's the way they want to keep it. If the ones on the town council gave a shit about this town they would do something to clean it up! The drugs, the trash, the animals, the delinquent kids, the trashy houses, lack of deputies, etc. in this town are terrible.

If this town is so horrible why do you stay? You must be the only good person in this whole town. You must have a beautiful, spotless home, perfect children, and no problems. You should move to Paradise.

No my home isn't beautiful, nor is it spotless, but I do take pride in what I own. As a matter of fact I do have good kids (not perfect), my kids don't run the streets all hours of the night, and they do have respect for others and their property.

you act as if every kid in town, other than your own, run the streets at all hours. we may have a few bad apples, but so does every town. for the most part the youth of our town are great kids.

this town is worthless I have lived here for 23 and half years and wish I could move somewhere else but for right know I can't. but if you people were to band together and vote people like ward who has just finished black topping his brothers road all the way to their drive way" which by the way is not allowed according to the town". that is where all the towns money is going for projects that benifit only the town board members families and themselves. so next time when you vote then vote against them. and vote for someone who will take care of this town. as for delinquent kids runin round town all hours of the night that is true because there is nothing to do in this town they need to add more recreational things to this town so these kids will stop running like they do.
