It is unclear why the plural "Engines" appears in both the headline and the story itself when the aircraft in question, a Cessna 208, is a single engine airplane.

It is not "unclear" why the Eagle used the plural. The Eagle is hopelessly ignorant of all things technical, including, for example the number of engines on a Cessna Caravan (C208). When cable TV wants to cover a subject, technical or otherwise, they don't rely on their news anouncers, but bring in someone having familiarity with the subject. The Eagle ought to hire an Editor with some technical savy, or bring in ad hoc editors as needed

You two above seem to know a thing or three about aircraft: Is this type of Cessna engine and air intake design susceptible to intake of birds, or do you think it was a maintenance gaff or something got loose internally?

All gas turbine engines can suck in birds. Engines are tested to assure that they can digest multiple small birds without damage except to the birds.(The tests are done with dead chickens).

A large bird like a goose is a problem. We don't know what caused failure in this particular instance.
