<<The biggest obstacle in Great Barrington, Kaplan said, is geography, since hills, wetlands and other waterways will be a challenge in finding a north-south route.>>
If these lunatics got a lot of grants from oBUMa they can do a lot of studies on the subject for few years and have thousands of meetings to keep themselves busy. They should think about another project - bike route from Cape Horn up to Alaska, so working people can commute to work from Lima to Anchorage using just their legs ( as it used to be thousands years ago) and save both American continents and even the planet from evil civilization. Yea, and keep their legs strong like Madeline Olbrite!

There were people against every good idea in history.
Why should this be any different?
Posts like the wingnut above are the truest sign of the Apocalypse. Ignorance will be the end of this great country. Mark my words; stupidity is gaining ground everywhere.
Stamp out ignorance by calling it out. This guy is an idiot.

The Bike path built in Adams and Cheshire has been a huge hit. It has thousands of local users of all ages. It attracts visitors from outside the area who spend valuable tourist dollars.
Bike paths have been one of the most effective uses of the Federal Transportation dollars,(which come from the 2% of all DOT money mandated for alternative energy projects, like biking)

So bring it on Great Barrington !

Sounds like a wonderful idea. Too bad the constituency of wingnuts feels the need to oppose something really sensible like this. I'd use the path if it existed.
