"I'd much rather be debating him, but he'd rather put up signs," Bosley said of Bowler

Does Bosley realize that citizens of Berkshire County are asking for and putting up those signs, not Tom Bowler? That sounds like a little jealousy to me, you can't knock him for having the support of the people!

"Rather, Darby O'Brien -- the creative force behind the South Hadley PR firm -- is focusing on one of Bosley's most identifiable features: his beard."

I rest my case.

~Just because Bosley has embraced the latest modes of communication for this race (he also has a Facebook page) doesn't mean he's abandoned more traditional tactics.

"I'm out every night," he said, adding that he regularly meets with supporters, attends campaign events, and addresses community groups to disseminate his message.~

Shouldn't he be doing his job as a legislator??

Let's see, whom do I want as a Sheriff... a career politician, or a cop????

I think the answer to that question depends on one's definition of what sheriff does. Does she sheriff go around investigating crimes? Is he the one physically going around busting people? No. He's behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly, getting the money for the jail, administering programs, balancing budgets.
People of Berkshire County are misinformed. The Sheriff does not need to be a cop. People need to understand that and learn what the sheriff actually does before casting their votes.
Dan Bosley for Berkshire County Sheriff!!!

Knowledge is power, and the electorate should not have to beg for the privilege of hearing why their vote should be cast for you as a candidate. 32 cities & towns, for a job that has been one man's domain for 32 years. The job does impact the county and many other agencies. Two debates!! This race was kicked off months ago, and the best we can beg for is two debates to hear and see the candidates make their case for such an important position. God forbid you might not be able to get that day off from work or have some other conflict and be unable to attend. Perhaps you don’t have transportation to the anointed two locations. More debates could provide more locations and a chance to put yourself before the people. Talk about controlling the image and keeping the campaign in a can. Hey Tom, be your own man and tell your handlers you are ready for the job and welcome the opportunity to earn our votes by standing before us and letting us see and hear what you want us to vote for.

Noted. How is this "Career Politicians" pipeline treating Berkshire County?

This is crazy. Dan Bosley hasn't put his signs out yet, so don't get your panties in a bunch!!! Just because Tom Bowler has multiple signs on lawns (poor strategic planning), doesn't mean he is guaranteed to win. In my opinion, Tom Bowler is scared to debate the issues with Mr. Bosley because he can hardly string a sentence together. The issue that keeps coming up is Mr. Bosley's lack of "law enforcement" background. How about Mr. Bowler's lack of contacts. The sheriff position is mainly a "political" job, in that you need to have the contacts in the legislature, to recieve grant money and to be able to make things happen.
Tom Bowler has been with the Pittsfield Police for 23 years. I don't feel too comfortable with what is going on in HIS streets. Do you???????
The only thing Mr. Bowler fears is a hot dog eating contest against Dan the beard Bosley.

If Bosley is so well connected, where is all the $$$ for the jail over the past years. They have been scrapping by while this guy sits on ^&% and I guess grows his beard.

How well connected was Bosley when he was elected to his current position....it appears to me connections can be made.

I'm not electing someone because they debate well....I am electing them because I feel they can do a good job. I wouldn't elect a car salesman because he is a smooth talker.

You are actually right about one thing, "the sheriff does not need to be a cop", however it makes more since to have someone who knows the inner workings of the criminal justice field in that position. Last time I checked there is only one canidate with those credentials.

Your as dumb as Bosley if you think contacts and politics are what it takes to run a jail. As an administrator at the jail I can tell you first hand that we could care less about Boselys contacts and the grimey politics. Politicians have no right running for sheriff. Ill tell you the same thing I will say to him work for one week in the jail and you will see its bull crap politics and contacts that has it screwed up. Why do you think the staff is backing Bowler? We need a working sheriff not one that is going to sit on his butt and contact his contacts about what to do.

One more thing any idiot can write a grant so you should tell your boy Bosley thats not a big deal. I write them all the time as do people across the county and the state and yes we get the grants we go after and we have no contacts.

The only place this will be tight..is in Bosleys pants when he gets **** and his belly swells up........he has absolutely no chance....and too bad this is not about the man who is the best law enforcement official....Carmine knew nothing about law enforcement either..he was a big bully.......he not only bullied employess at the jail but he bullied employees at BMC when his mother was a patient...a real example of a professional..now another wanna be Bosley for deputy dog...
Wow...this is pretty classic. All anyone has to poke fun at Dan about is his weight. Lay off it. He has put 25 years of heart and soul into his public work as a State Rep. You have ABSOLUTLY no idea what he does on a daily/nightly basis.

Oh, and last I checked Tom Bowler isn't exactly starving to death!! If you are going to rip on one man for "weight issues" you'd better be fair and look at the flip side. Bowler better stay on the streets at night and work on making his streets of Pittsfield a little safer. MAybe a little overtime would do him some good! He's not exactly "cleaning up the streets" in Pittsfield, last time I checked.

I'd like to hear what Bowler has to say in a debate, how he'll solve some major issues of the jail. He can't/doesn't want to because he isn't capable of putting together a complete thought!

You just said that any idiot can write a grant and that YOU write them "all the time"! It makes my day that you just called yourself an IDIOT! Not as smart as you think! These are the type of supporters that Tom Bowler has. Give me 5 signs to put in my yard, that'll really make the point. LOSERS

C'mon, let's stay on topic, enough of the personal attacks. I'm looking forward to the debates.

The job requires a knowledge of the criminal system, and securing funds. Both will have an opportunity to explain how they'll manage these important functions and we, the voters, can then decide.

Re. DB, I would like know how his 20+ years has benefited Berkshire County, and specifically, North Adams. I'm familiar with socioeconomic metrics in N. County, and frankly, I find them quite troubling. Other than that, bring on the debates!

I think that this is going to be a much tighter race than people think. I'd like to see these 2 debate the real issues. I agree that this isn't a "law enforcement" position but the voters need to know about the issues and what duties the sheriff position really entails.
Pittsfield resident for Dan Bosley :)
First ..to everyone...enough unfunny fat jokes...unless you are just looking to make cracks on people...hardly helpful

second...the debater wants to debate...no surprise...play to your strength...but I do have to wonder if the plan is to debate your way into office...to run a staff that supports the lawman?...a lot of comments about what the sheriff's office IS...the lawman is talking about what it could and should be...and I dont know how you could disagree with his vision...cooperation and team work..

Fat jokes are hardly helpful.

The debater wants to debate...no surprise..play to your strength...but careful what you wish for...debate your way to run a staff that supports the lawman? it does seem the lawman is talking more about what the office SHOULD and COULD be as opposed to what it IS..clearly politics verses professional...

You should know that MANY of these signs are illegally placed. I live on a main drag and have thrown THREE of them in the dumpster and will probably have to remove many, many more from my property before election day.

It's typical Pittsfield police bull. They think they are above the law.

I couldn't agree with you more. There are signs on both state land and vacant lots all over the place. There are some very shady things going on in the Bowler camp, and thats a fact. It's a shame that people have to stoop to these levels.

So, you are an "Administrator" at the jail? Apparently, a myopic location if you start your intelligent discourse by summarizing Dan Bosley as "dumb." Only someone of amoeba-esque intellect could think Dan Bosley is dumb. You can disagree with his positions, you can support your choice, a person you Administrators at "the jail" chose before you even knew who the candidates for office would be, but factually, you cannot Honestly say that Dan Bosley is dumb. Honesty aside, at least for you, I'll credit you the fact that it is hard for one to further explore the credentials and positions of the candidates, since your candidate, Tom Bowler, refuses to put himself before the public and speak to those points. Apparently the walls that keep the prisoners in, also serve to keep intelligent discourse from infiltrating and infecting the jail's Administrators. You would think such a qualified and learned Administrator, as you obviously are, would take over the reigns at the jail, instead of calling Dan Bosley "dumb" and voting for a rank & file patrolman from Pittsfield to supervise all the Assistant Superintendents, Majors, generals, czars and who knows what other bloated scared Admistrative titles they can squeeze into the jail. I’m surprised there is any room left for prisoners there. I hear your people make fat jokes. Well, you should know about that. The real fat is in the jail, and I hope whoever takes the leadership role there can fix the mess there. Probably not your chosen boy who was there for two years on patronage, then left, but now promises to come back and take care of business as usual. You know what, thirty-two years of that was more than enough.
