Pittsfield a Directiona sought on OUI device n A local defense ...

There are 7 comments on the Berkshire Eagle story from Sep 3, 2009, titled Pittsfield a Directiona sought on OUI device n A local defense .... In it, Berkshire Eagle reports that:

If man is fallible, a machine created by man can't be infallible. That's the premise a Pittsfield defense attorney is pushing to get Massachusetts to reach a legal consensus about the "efficacy and accuracy" of the Alcotest 7110, an alcohol-detection device commonly used in OUI cases.

Besides the BAC machines FAULTS, the rubes (a.k.a "scientists") that run them couldn't pass a High school chemistry exam. They think a "mole" is something that eats the roots of your plants!!!

I guess some lawyers need something to do to make money these days.

I miss George Crane.

Drive drunk, pay money, then go to jail.

People are too quick to jump on anything deemed “scientific” as irrefutable evidence. I think it leads to incorrect convictions. Even finger print evidence is not science - six veteran fingerprint examiners were given fingerprints to examine - they unknowingly had examined them before - 4 out of 6 came to different conclusions than they did the first time!
(Read Popular Mechanics CSI Myths: The Shaky Science Behind Forensics- http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/mi... )

Getting evidence right is not a waste of time nor a lawyer looking for money - a lazy lawyer is not doing his job if his answer is to pay the fine/ go to jail.
