I too only buy about 20 gallons a month. That is all I need to cover my driving needs getting over 100mpg in my plug-in hybrid.

Coservaction will surely help. We must change the way we live. More fuel efficient vehicles, walk, ride bikes, ride city buses and live closer to work. Also need to find other sources of energy.

Brian,

As someone who commutes 40 miles round-trip every day to a workplace that can't be accessed by public transportation, I envy you -- but more importantly I heartily applaud you! I wish it were possible to bike to work.

And I'm very impressed with your willingness to donate money that would have gone to oil companies to the poor in Africa.

I and two other folks recently formed an all-volunteer non-profit to support the impoverished Bagishu people in eastern Uganda. Their average annual income is a mere $6 per day. If you haven't yet selected a charity in Africa to support, please consider ours. One of our three main goals focuses on children. I invite you to peruse our web site, www.globalafricanvillage.org .

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]

And good luck on your gas-free life! I hope you can sustain it for a long time.

BFD. I haven't bought gas for 1.5 months! I'm utilizing the CTA for $75/month and coming home every night smelling like Chicago pee to prove it!

My least favorite leather jacket (worn Mon-Fri) and clothes are hung separately from everything else I own.
