What are locals hearing? Surprised that there is no Topix thread discussing the local scuttlebutt.

On the one hand - we have a missing child. What are the odds that a stranger broke in and snatch this child for purposes of (insert whatever seems probable).

On the other hand - we have a mother who went shopping for wine a few hours earlier (without her children? who was watching them?) who put her child to bed at 6:30 p.m., who claims the child was not well, but did not look in on her, and continued to drink wine, leave the lights on and door unlocked.

I hate to think that the mother did this. I also hate to think that a stranger broke in to kidnap a child and steal cell phones.

Stay tuned.

BTW - To JohnyDollars - I agree with you. I wonder why nobody is discussing this case.

Hi, I'm new to the area, but this story broke just as we were moving here. What really bothers me about this family - the mother, in particular, is her demeanor. If my daughter had been abducted, I don't think I would be able to keep my composure as well as she does. When she cries, it doesn't seem as if she is crying for Lisa as much as it is for herself. I don't know...maybe that's just my perception, but it bothers me.

Also, if she did hurt Lisa, she really has some gall because as a mother, watching another mom on the news say that some stranger came in her house and took her baby really strikes fear in your heart. Even now, with all the suspicion I have against Lisa's mom, there's still that part of me when I put my daughter down to bed at night that worries if someone is going to come in and take her, too. Scary!!!

I want Baby Lisa to come home safe, but as the days tick by I know she probably won't. Such a sad world we live in sometimes.

The mom had been drinking for hours...She finally admitted it and said that she might have "blacked out"...Married women often say they "blacked out" when their husbands are working late, and they need an excuse for cheating while intoxicated.
She was half out of it, having sex with some guy, the baby woke up, went looking for mommy in the dark, and was either pushed/kicked off the bed and died, or abducted after the mom passed out...The cell phone call that was placed after the phones were supposedly stolen, was the mom sobering up and calling the guy, asking him to help get rid of the body, or asking if he knew anything about the baby's disappearance...The mom can't admit any of this for so many reasons.
Also consider this:
It was reported that the "teenage neighbor" had full access to the house (even the security code), and that the teenage neighbor was questioned and the police took a DNA sample from that teenager...Doesn't that seem a bit odd?
The mom says she was drinking on the porch with a neighbor...The teenager is questioned...
If the mom was having sex with the teenager, and had given the teenager alcohol, that's another huge handful of reasons to stay quiet...Oh what a tangled web.

@she is guilty... A baby that young is not going to climb out of her crib and go crawling through the dark to find mommy. Most children that age cannot walk(tho there are a few that can) and my daughter is 18 mos old, walking, running, climbing on everything and still cannot climb out of her crib or pack and play. Your scenario is improbable, and quite rude if you ask me!

This was not an Ozzy & Harriet family but I see no opportunity by either parent to dispose of a body and not have it found.

Law Enforcement should do some profiling of who would take a a baby that age. All I can come up with is a couple that are replacing her for their dead child. I'd search into all the local infants that had died in the last few years and check those homes. Newborns are taken by women that 'want' a baby but this was something else, Lisa was an older baby.

There is a lot we don't know regarding the true time line. The tidbits we know is that some point, earlier that evening, the mother was out with a friend buying wine. Later that evening she was drinking wine that friend. Some time that evening, baby Lisa is no longer in her crib.

Could some person have broken in and stolen the baby with the intent on raising her in a loving home? One could dream. One could assume that a person would enter through a window, remove the baby, remove phones, leave lights on and do all that without any other person in the world knowing. Nobody notices that this new mom has a new baby that isn't a newborn and just happens to look like missing baby Lisa.

Or something could have happened to baby Lisa inside of the home. While mom was shopping for wine, while mom was drinking on the porch, or somewhere in between. And yes, before the alarm was sounded, there was plenty of time to dispose of any evidence, including the baby.

Either way, I hope for the best but anticipate the worst.

"Could some person have broken in and stolen the baby with the intent on raising her in a loving home?"

That's not quite the scenario I'm projecting. It would never be a loving home, it would be more dsyfunctional than the family she was born into.

I consider Lisa being kidnaped by a local couple that had 'lost' a baby daughter in the last few years as remote, yet possible. We all are familiar with women kidnapping newborns but this was an older baby. Using vital statistics of known dead babies is just one opportunity worth investigating.

Without a body there is hope. Lisa is a victim and deserves to have this resolved. This family and mother will never get awards for being perfect. Debbie is uneducated, unemployed, and dumb enough to be a victim too.
