This county is god damn ridiculous. City of Corning, along with the TC BOS are complicating this matter more than they need to. People have a right to their medicine, yet, they are being denied. Would you deny a cancer patient chemo therapy? Would you prohibit vicodin and norco (known opiates used to treat similar ailments that marijuana is prescribed for), from being within certain limits of schools, bus stops and churches? NOPE! Not to mention that the county recently made it easier to obtain liquor licenses, where alcohol kills more people in one day than marijuana has killed in 100 years (ZERO).

Also, thank you THC for your perseverance regarding this matter. This county needs more advocates like you.

Cannabis users are passionate about this subject because cannabis WORKS! Not only that, cannabis is far safer than prescription and many over the counter, non-prescription drugs.

No one has died because of cannabis use, but "Each year, use of NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) accounts for an estimated 7,600 deaths and 76,000 hospitalizations in the United States." (NSAIDs include aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, ketoprofen, and tiaprofenic acid.)That is from the study "Unnecessary Prescribing of NSAIDs and the Management of NSAID-Related Gastropathy in Medical Practice," Annals of Internal Medicine.

In addition, the number of ailments cannabis can treat is amazing! Various cancers, MS, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, MRSA, diabetes, stroke, heart attacks, nausea, glaucoma, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, neuropathic pain, and much more.

But I don't want you to believe me- I want you to read it for yourself! Run a search on "Granny Storm Crow's list" and read the scientific studies and news articles for yourself! Once you have read my list, I am certain that you will be wondering just WHY there is all this foolish resistance to the medical use of cannabis. Thank you for taking the time to educate yourself about cannabis.

As usual, Corning makes every effort to move BACKWARDS in time. Pot should be legalized. No, I don't partake, but would rather be on the road with someone who just lit up a joint than someone who just left the bar.

Good job Corning City Council, we already have too much crime and drug use already in Corning. The last thing we need are pot stores selling drugs to our children who have fake referrals.

And don't say it can't happen, it already has and continues as there is no easy way to check authenticity of documents.

Good riddance!

Retired in Chico, have you ever been to a medical marijuana dispensary? They verify the authenticity of each document with the prescribing physician. And honey, it is much easier for your kids to get drugs on any street corner than it is to get a fake referral. Chances are, they don't have to look any further than the guy sitting next to them in class.

Who needs a pot store when you can grow your own for free? What's the big deal?

Adding to pro420's comment, another form of verification is an embossed copy of the original script. The doctor who gives you the referral will give you two embossed copies. one to keep with you at all times, and another to post in your garden if you choose to produce your own medicine. Pot stores are for the people who are unable to produce their own for various reasons. i.e. apartment living, disabled, uneducated on the process, lack of funds for the process and security, etc.

I agree with you, better leave that stuff to drug dealers rather than regulate it's sale just like alcohol and tobacco.

Hey clowns - you can't ban collectives or cooperatives relating to medical marijuana because they're provided for under state law. You also don't need a dispensary for a cooperative or collective to operate. Maybe you yahoos would be well served to buy a dictionary.

Hope you enjoy looking at the inside of a courtbuilding, because you're going to be spending a lot of time there, lol.
