The 14th Amendment Equal Protection clause applies in this case. There are thousands and thousands of historical markers across America that serve as memorials to victims of war and insurgency, and use the words "Indians attacked..." "British RedCoast..." "Mexican bandits..." "Negro slaves..." etc.
So what then? How do the "Indians" and "Mexicns" feel about being portrayed as savage killers and "bandits". One need only wander into Messila New Mexico and read the placards on the buildings to get a sense that "Mexicns" were portrayed as bandits. There are placards all over the South as a testament to savage treatment of "Negros" by "White" People, who are portrayed as "slaveowners." If you're prepared to tear down every last historical marker and placard in the United States, then you have a right to deny this man's request. Other than that, put up or shut up. |
