I just received another Tax bill. This time it's the Fire Tax. Now,.. the equipment needs to be maintained, or new equipment purchased. The Fire Chief definitely needs a new car so he can drive across the street in the morning to the bakery.

The bill is divided in to "House" and "Land". My house is made out of wood and it will burn.

But that piece of ledge listed on the bill as "Land" will require a nuclear explosion before it ignites. But you have to pay taxes on the ledge, or the dirt and crabgrass around the "House", or the Fire company will take your house.

You really have got to wonder why everyone is leaving this state and why businesses relocate.

left and will never return Ed for the same reasons you cite. leave, its not that hard and you might find another place better than RI. To bad, spent 15 years there building a biz, and raising a family. feel your pain - now do something about it!

Another year, more and higher taxes. Nobody says or does anything.

I suppose we have to pay for the new car the Fire Chief has. The old one should have had low mileage. He only drove from his house and back, and from the Fire Station to the Bakery across the street and back.

There is nothing here. Not even jobs, and the taxes keep going up. Is there any wonder why everyone is leaving.

Got to love the incompetence of the Town Council. No body has the ability to think outside the box. Just tax the people and if they don't pay take their house. Here's a thought, out source the Highway Department. With a $1mil+ a year budget, other cities across the country do it.

How about another, pool the IT service between multiple towns. You can drive from one end of this state to the other side in 40 minutes. Better yet out source it. A town this size does not need resident IT. Let's face it, at over $100,000 budget, it's not rocket science.

More tax bills. Now that I am living on SS I have found that if I cut out my meds I might be able to make the tax bill. Everyone that lives around me is leaving. I suspect to survive I'll have to leave and leave my family behind, don't have any choice.
