Have to wonder if Sarah Casareto knows that her attorney Brian Toder's brilliant legal skills helped seal the fate of his previous client, Denny Hecker.

the State of MN needs to, immediately, institue a random drug testing policy for ALL doctors and nurses. Why this hasn't been in place already just blows my mind but it needs to be done...NOW!!!!!!

If these cases are "confidential until the licensing board takes action", I wonder how many OTHER cases are out there. We never hear about this until months later.

What's so great about Vicodin? doesn't it just make you sleepy? It doesn't cause a high or anything (as far as I know). She must have taken a lot. I don't know how a nurse could steal like this from someone in pain.

You get drug tested to stock shelves overnights at WalMart, yet they don't test people who are handling narcotics, and claim to have your health and well being as their first priority. Something doesn't add up.

What's up with nurses around here? Last year they walked off their jobs and left patients behind. Now they're taking the patients' drugs. Don't tell me any of that "was for the patients."

I'm a clerk for crying out loud and I get tested ( twice this year already) as do all office employees yet health care professionals do not, why is that?.....

I am a nurse and I agree, I'm shocked at how easy it would be to steal drugs. Yes, eventually the nurse would get caught but not before harming other patients. I would be for random drug testing in the work force. Facilities will enforce an immediate drug test if they suspect something but by then it's too late. Background checks are great, but every offender has a first time.

What about doctors? I've read that a great percentage of them are addicted to or regularly indulge in a drug or alcohol.

You hear about this all the time. A nurse hurts his/her back -- moving and picking up patients. Before you know it, they are hooked on pain killers. Hence the who premise for the Showtime Original show "Nurse Jackie"

At first, I thought that the drug stealing nurse was just an anomaly. Now, I'm convinced that this may be just the tip of the iceberg, and random drug testing must start asap. The public's trust is at stake here, and hospitals are setting themselves up for some serious lawsuits if action isn't taken soon.
