I see a major conflict of interest with one of these candidates.

A business manager sitting on a board -- when he is also making decisions as a manager for another school that directly affect the school (of the board he would be on). Its not ethical, and there might be a law against it.

What about the Treasurer that the town voted not to give her 1% of the Grand List last year?
Now she wants to take a job away from someone else?

What about the treasurer that is running for delinquent tax collector and her sister in law is her assistant?

The CDC has separate governance. I am pretty sure that Mr. Pembroke does not oversee the CDC budget

Harrington is a very strong candidate for Select Board. Left Benn to get his education and some job experience and now back and working. We need to keep our young, bright people for our future. He would be a good addition to the board for Bennington.

I agree. Michael Harrington comes from a good family who has always been involved in the community. He is currently serving on the Development Review Board and does a lot of volunteer things for the community. Check out his website: www.voiceforbennington.com and find out more.

He oversees the MAU budget and is the administrator for things that the CDC leases and the cost of personnel shared with MAU. He cannot serve two masters. He could live up to his oath of office and have anything to do with certain aspects of the CDC, including its budget. Nor, could he effectively do his job as the MAU budget manager and serve both schools. It is a gross conflict of interest. He needs withdraw.

Why don't you run for office? Are you too lazy? Are you too stupid? Are you a convicted felon? Are you all three?

I'm betting a combination, otherwise you'd realize most people in small towns don't give a rat's ass unless it's tax time, then they suddenly become concerned about their community/themselves.

Got a problem with your local government? Take out a petition and run for office. It shouldn't mess up your welfare benefits.

As for the 1% the Treasurer used to receive this before it was voted to change.Check your facts as this happened before the current Treasurer was elected into office. I am sure that the Treasurer was trying to get things back to the way they used to be. Also 1% of all taxes collected...., not 1% of all grand list.
As for the sister in law check your facts. This is wrong.... Even if correct(which it is not) the Assistant Treasurer is paid out of the Treasurers Salary. There is no budget line for Assistant Treasurer in the towns budget.

This is what happens with elected officials.

I would say the Treasurer is not taking a job away, as only trying to get it back...........
