Sassy, again with all due respect, and this is the part of practicality that I continue to refer to, the government is not going to lower my unemployment tax, my social security tax, my corporate tax, my workman's comp insurance, my use tax, my excise taxes, my franchise taxes, my property taxes and they certainly are not going to lower the cost of the healthcare benefits I provide. This simply isn't going to happen. And the GOP would vote to do this in a second. It is the democrat side that would stop this dead in its tracks.
When you list figures like $10/hour and $20/hour, you are only seeing part of the equation. This is the wage part of labor costs. There are many other costs you do not see. These are what are going up. As long as these costs go up, wages will remain stagnant or go down. When an employer has no idea what these costs are going to be in the future, they simply don't hire as many employees. That is what we are seeing today.
Here is what I see right now. People around here actually have money to spend. We offer financing on purchases and this used to be around 40% of all purchases. It is now around 20%. People are now using cash to purchase and forgoing leveraging their assets to buy things, including housing. Apartment complexes are springing up all over the place. People don't want to leverage assets to purchase because of uncertainty in job security. There is no job security because employers have no idea what non-wage costs are going to be in the future. Financing purchases is what propels retail sales. That's about it in a nutshell.
I have had my own business for a little over 6 years and have worked for a couple of major corporations for about 25 years previous to that. While at these corporations, I had to make some pretty tough decisions regarding lay-offs. None of the lay-offs I was involved in had anything to do with outsourcing manufacturing to other countries. Most lay-offs were due to government intervention in our customers' business, telephone companies.
Pete, I told you to look at it from the Worker/Consumer POV, to explain why I don't think your business will pick up until the very end of the Recovery, if the TEApublican Congress keeps putting most of the burden of the Business Taxes on the Small Business Owner. Did you skip over that part of my Post?
The Big and very Wealthy Businesses and Corporations aren't even paying any taxes for the most Part, and it's the TEApublicans that are the cause of that. Therefore, you are getting shafted by the very People, and Political Party, that you support so strongly! But, you're not alone, Individuals are experiencing the very same thing and they are also fighting to enable the Ones doing it to them, to keep right on doing it, but they just can't see it. Why? I do NOT know! To me, it's as plain as the nose of One's face! The only thing I can figure is that they are being extremely misinformed and won't read anything to inform, because I've posted many Links to Legitimate Articles from Legitimate News Sources , telling the People about it. If they would watch CSPAN, when the House and Senate is in session, they could see it LIVE, as it's happening on the Floor, for themselves, and see who is doing it. But, they just won't! It's even Rerun at night, so they could see it then, but they won't.

So, you can't make People see the truth if they don't want to, and that's obviously what's happening with TEApublican Citizens. They simply don't WANT to know the truth...and that is TOTAL Indoctrination!

But, let them believe anything they want to, they'll suffer forit along with everybody else...they will just blame the wrong People for it, and keep on making the same mistakes over and over, again.

It's just too bad that they are going to make the rest of us suffer, needlessly, right along with them, if there's enough of them to do it.

Pete, just let me ask you one question...who was it that proposed giving the Small Business Owners a Tax Break during the worst part of the Recession, along with the American Workers...and who stopped the Tax Breaks way too soon , with Obama asking them not to?

Pete, this is exactly what Obama has been preaching...for People who have money to spend to start spending it because it's good for the Economy. But, the TEApublicans keep putting the fear of God into them , for the very same reason...because they know it would be good for the economy and therefore, it would make the economy grow, most importantly of all to them, it would make Obama look better and that is the last thing they want!
You are blaming the wrong Person and the wrong Political Party for your plight!

A less competent President, or a Weaker MAN would have lost his Mind a long time ago...because you TEApublicans have thrown everything at Obama , but the Kitchen sink, to try and make him fail. Yet, he's still moved this Country forward in spite of what the TEAopublican have done to stop him!
Congress is supposed to be a Helpmate to the President , when it's in the Country's Best Interest and You TEApublicans have FAILED at that miserably! You TEApublicans are concerned with ONLY one thing and that's destroying the President. You couldn't care less about this Nation and you've proven it, as so have the Ones you elected to Congress!
I challenge you to name ONE thing that the TEApublican-Majority Congress has done , since they've held the Majority in Congress, to help or improve this Nation, as a whole...JUST ONE THING, that's all, JUST ONE THING!
The Republicans have not held the majority in Congress during this presidency. They have only held the majority in the House of Representatives since the 2010 elections. Congress consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate. When will you ever learn?

Ok, here we go...try looking at it from the Worker/Consumer's POV.
Now, I'm going to put this is a very simplistic way because you are not the only One reading this, perhaps, and I want the other Posters to understand what I'm saying also. You criticized me for doing that before, remember?:)
If you're a Worker, who was previously laid off from a job that paid $20.00 ph. and you get a job that pays $10.00 ph., you're not going to be able to buy anything that you don't actually have to have, because your income has been cut in half. You're even going to have to chance your eating patterns because food prices have gone so high.
Now, if you were unemployed for a long time, chances are that you're behind on your Bills also, so you're going to have to work on trying to catch them up, if you have even an extra dollar let , after buying the necessities of life, such as food, so that you don't get sued, which will cost you even more money.
Therefore, a high-end item such as what you sell is simply out of the question in the foreseeable future.
Now, you've talked about your Business Taxes going up, putting a hardship on you and I understand that. But, if the Wealthiest were paying their fair share to run the Country, and if the TEApublicans would raise the Minimum Wage, then there would be more Tax Money coming into the Government to run the Country, then Small Businesses like yours, comparatively, could be helped to stay afloat by lowering their Tax Burden, at least temporarily, until the entire Country got back on it's feet, and you could afford the taxes that you're paying now, without undue hardship on you....if Congress would vote to do it. Democrats would, but TEApublicans probably wouldn't.
Pete, did you have your Business during any other Recession? I have a reason for asking, but if you choose not to answer, that's Ok.
SO you want businesses to be taxed higher and pay their workers more. And where do you propose they get the money for that? The wealthiest 5% are already providing 70% of the revenue to the government receives. Why don't you pay your fair share of that?

Yes the voters need to understand t a few things.
1) The democrats took over the health care in this nation and now CBS is saying that our healthcare sucks. It was the best in the world until 2010 and free fell.
2) We are now almost 18 TRILLION in the hole! In 2006 we were 5 trillion, 2008 we were 7 trillion... Go figure, please open up your eyes.
3) This administration has weakened our military, from the Ukraine to Iraq to the Arab Spring!
4) This administration has waged a war on coal and utilities are at the highest... Along with Gasoline...
5) Our unemployment is way over 8%
6) The illegals are in here receiving benefits.
Just look at the states that have a (D) behind them and ask yourself.... Do I want to live like that? Do I want crime? Do I want to live in poverty? Do I want to have all my earnings taken in taxes?
Yes folks we need to get back to basics. Rapist need to be in jail, not to find out what makes them feel that way!
The democrats are nothing more than socialist, with the unions supporting them and take a look at the rich... The rich are now way better off!
Yes the democrats have ruined their states and now they are ruining our nation. Our military is weak thanks to them. More people now on food stamps then ever and Pelosi said food stamps are just as good as pay checks!!!
Last thing... Talk about slaves. The Democrats have people on welfare, food stamps, disability, electrical vouchers, insurance vouchers, Internet vouchers and yes these people are slaves to the Democratic Party... Just go down to your neighborhood projects if you don't believe me and you will see what is there...
Again you can't say it's not true... Statistics don't lie!!!
"Who Cares"- speaks the gospel. WC, you should join the party I'm with, the "WILD Party" It's an acronym for - "Write In Lou Dobbs! lol

That's what she doesn't realize.
Raise taxes to business = price increases to consumers.
price increases to consumers = inflation
inflation = a Fed increase in interest rates
an increase in interest rates = less money in consumers pockets to spend

Rising interest rates and rising energy costs will stifle any economy.
The King has done absolutely nothing to lower energy costs.

Pure Nonsense and the GOP knows it. There should be a Law to stop the GOP from trying to subvert the voting process in this Country. It's violation of our Constitutional Rights and I, for one, am fed up with it! Take note that it's ALWAYS the GOP trying to do it, also, NEVER the Democratic Party!
Somebody should sue the GOP!
