Oh an jut o you know I dont drive for a big company I do good to make 750 a week,7days work putting up with brokers, dispathers owners, the po-pos,not to think about the fifty or sixt times a day I get cut off,or someone on cell phone not looking n pulls out in front of me, So 750 after taxes bout 530 week then It cost me about 200 a week to live on the road, so I end up with 330 a week, just how much do you have take home in your pockets,

I believe you have proven on here with your own words why people do not tip anymore. I waited tables for years and loved every minute of it. But I never treated one customer better than another I really did not care about how much tip they left on the table today because I preferred that they returned and told others. a $2 tip from each table would at the least put gas in my car so i could get to work. When we go out to eat now we pay attention to our waitress and how she treats not only us but others she is suppose to be taking care of. If she ignore the little couple across the room because she knows there is no tip there but kisses our arse then well we are not leaving more than fifty cents.
To us it is about how bad you want people to return and if you can give the same attention to each person. It doesnt matter if they only leave you $20 if they never return.... it matters that they will return and not pay for the food which keeps you working.$2 per table in a 6 hour shift and you have 5 tables that are rotating at least 3 changes per shift can equal to well over 100. If you are looking to earn at least $200 to $300 a day you are in the wrong building to wait tables and we do not have those type here but I hear louisville does.

Sounds to me like some of the people on here are just making one excuse after another to not tip their server. If you can't tip right, go to mcd's!! Get over it!! If you want good service over and over again at a certain restaurant, tip good, like over 20%!! Servers tell each other when there is a good tipper or a bad tipper at their tables. Why would ANYONE in their right mind give someone good service to a known bad tipper?? I'm going to save my energy and time for someone who appreciates good service and knows how to show it!! I always tip 20%(or more if they were extremely good) to a good server. And just because you had 2 wait ' forever' on your food or it wasn't cooked right or it didn't taste good(you'll just know next time not to order it!), doesn't mean you take it out on you're server!! TRUST ME, if they can fix it, they will! And don't wait until the end of the meal (after you've ate more than half of your meal)to say something, that just makes you look like a cheap jack ass who can't afford to pay for your food and tip.

I'm pretty sure if it was me, I wouldn't of lasted 6 months, let alone over 10 years in the serving industry!! Don't get me wrong alot of people know how to tip appropriately, but here in seymour, it's like no one knows how to do it! I bust my ass, bust like any other person with their job, to make that $. It just upsetting that people could really be so cheap and clueless!!! And we do have to pay the taxes on your bill, so when u dont tip, that puts us even further in the hole!!

Like I said southern hospitality around here... if you are kissing my arse cause I might leave you $20 but ignoring the others who saved up pennies to treat each other to a meal than you wont find many around here who will tip. I would much rather everyone come back tomorrow and leave me $2 than the one time $20 that will never return.
You give them great service because then they will return and you can make a paycheck. If they stop returning after the first time then sooner or later the resturant will suffer the loss and have no choice but to close... excuse me then where will you be? If that job is not paying your bills or giving you enough money then find another one I know several factories are hiring daily.. OH WAIT THAT WOULD MEAN YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY WORK!!!
Again if your looking to make $200 or more a day waiting tables there are resturants/bars across the river that will help you with that. If you want an honest living that comes with respect than do your job stop bitching and treat everyone the same.

You might just be on to something.
My boy works in a factory. He talks about how easy things are there, and what they talked about on break.
I'm getting ready to go in for a service shift that starts at 6am. I'll get off about 4pm. During those 10 hours, do you think I'll get anything to eat? NO Do you think I'll even get as much as one 10 minute break? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I'll be on the move for the entire 10 hours.
If you think we're not working, you're sadly mistaken.

Sounds like you should be working at your boy's factory. Easier work and most likely better benefits. You know the financial chance you are taking day to day as a server. If you don't like it then find anther occupation that more stable.

Why should I use the money I make from "my real job" to pay for another persons job? Hell, I didnt employ you to work for me now did I? I just wanted some damn food, who cares how it gets to me.
I like to think of waitress's as homeless people, but only smarter... they both beg for money but besides just making a funny cardboard sign, they bring a plate of food half way across a room.(its worthy of a dollar or two - less pathetic) But you have every right to complain about people not GIVING you enough money. Whys that? Because you found a lousy job that pays you 2 dollars an hour and since you're not happy with it, you're gonna ask on random strangers to give you more money! Bravo.
BTW I tip the tax times 2.

Well the cooks sure as hell aren't going to bring it to you. And noone has to deal with people with thd "I'm entitled to be a self righteous prick" attitudes either..lol. people tip someone for waiting on them. And its a shame that some people use the food prep as a excuse to not tip. The cooks dont really give a flip because they get their pay no matter what. But good servers make the money. Some make more than the managers. But when someone cimes in and gives an attitude, the server will tell the others. And if iy keeps on accompanied by tiny tip then they'll see they get what they paid(or should I say didn't pay) for. Not all servers are mooches or bums. If we are making money while we are working on something bettet or a degree then good. At least we aren't bumming.

And it's people like you that I remember for future reference :-) A little spit in your sandwich, some visine in you're drink. Serving is a little more than just simply refilling your drink. But why waste my breath trying to argue with complete idiots like you?? Always trying to find some excuse not to tip your server. If you don't want to tip a server, go to mcdonalds!!! Remember this as your ' waiting' on your refill. Because, I know if a table I'm waiting on, isn't going to tip good, I'll let their drinks run dry, or let their food sit in the back. On the other hand, tip well, and get the best service ever!!:-)
and this is why you're on the internet making a thread bitching about people not tiping you enough! Maybe you have waited on me, and maybe i have tiped you good... but from what all you just pretty much revealed about yourself, we can tell you dont deserve a single dime. You're a lousy person and give everybody in the restarunt business a bad name. Please quit your job and disappear

hey nemesis, oh wait you spelled it wrong. nemisis..lol they do pay taxes. that's why the paychecks are small. no one said they don't pay any. and why would tippers deserve good tips?
a bit of education for the uneducated. the tax is figured based on the sales made. so when you stiff your server, they are still paying taxes on what you bought for dinner. that is one reason why its upsetting. i really doubt the original poster who i think i may know..lol was complaining about the money she makes because in all reality, shes doing better than minimum wage for sure. its only bad that you never know exactly how much will be made.

Please provide proof,i.e. the tax links pertaining to this and your proof they all turn in what they make.

I also want to point out part of your quote

"paychecks are small. no one "

You see where you put that period after the word small?Do you see the word no with a small case "n".A sentance starts with a Capital letter in the first word.Maybe you should learn some English before putting down the postings of others.

Tell me where I can go in Seymour to find decent service, worthy of a tip and I will be more than generous. It's been my experience that most servers have a chip on their shoulder and treat the customers as an inconvenience. People have forgotten how to give good service these days. I can't count the times I've gone to a restaurant and had to listen to a server piss and moan about their problems. That is not what I am there for. Hate you job, hate your life, hate your boss. But leave me out of it. It's none of my business and frankly, I don't care. Bring my food, fill my drink, bring my bill and shut up. Hell, you don't even need to do it with a smile. Just be competent.
