According to the article food recipients were ASKED to pray and were not FORCED to pray. Big difference! I am an atheist and I find no coercion here. People are too damned sensitive!

Religion has always been a sticking point for Obama.

That is one of his weakest points with the public.

Obama's religion is Black Liberation Theology (in essence, everything is the white man fault, blacks have been held down and whites need to give up some of what they have so blacks can be equal)

He is no man, if he can't own up to his religion.

What is all this bullsh*t about people's religion?
What is this anyway, The New Christian Sharia Law?
Christian Taliban?
What religion a person wants to believe in his his or her's business. Or no religion at all.
Religious bigots and busybodies back off! Get lost
ya narrow-minded creeps!

Post up a sign on the pantry door:

It is sad that so many christian organizations that take federal assistance think they are above the rules.

The rules are there for a reason, and YES they apply to them, their organization, and their god.

Plain as day, black and white, crystal clear, the rules state: "no political, religious, or any other non-related activity can be conducted as a condition of, or in conjunction with, receiving commodities or prepared meals" containing commodities."

Like it or not, this is not hard to understand. Do not mix prayer with administering the assistance. If someone wants to pray, or learn more about the church, then they can ask.

Anything beyond this, is simply intimidation or at the least making someone who needs assistance feel like they have to pray or they will be viewed and treated negatively.

No one, I mean NO ONE, needs or deserves or should even have to tolerate having some religion waved in their face or held over their head simply because they are being helped by a taxpayer funded program.

This is not rocket science.

Since organizations which staff food kitchens are almost always from a church, what is the big deal? The state is suppose to decide how to distribute the food anyway.

Christian Sharia Law - that is so freaking ignorant I can hardly think of where to start!

90%+ of the so called 'Christians' who think the rules don't appy to them....Catholics, and evangelical fundamentalists.

"Because many food pantries have ties to churches, the state and Gleaners have suggested to faith-based operations that they offer brochures or establish a separate room for prayer while complying with regulations."

What's for lunch? For Obama, it's baby back ribs , what not sea weed and pink slime
CLINTON, Md.(AP)-- Hot dogs. Bison Wellington. Baby back ribs.
President Barack Obama is roaming all over the culinary map this week.
The president made a lunchtime detour to a barbeque and ribs joint Thursday on his way back to the White House after a speech about energy policy.
The president came away from Texas Ribs & BBQ with a takeout bag containing 2 slabs of baby back ribs and a brisket sandwich with fries.
WELL, WILL MICHELE CHASTISE HIM FOR HIS DIET.

So what?

There is no requirement for a President to attend church or even have a religious belief.

Obviously you'll be voting for Santorum's theocracy. Just don't be suprised when you're forced to live according some ridiculous catholic beliefs you don't agree with.

No surprise that Farce News is screaming about a cutoff of aid to a religious charity over prayer, but ignoring a case where a religious charity cuts off aid to the homeless over a director's opinions about abortion and contraception:

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/deaconsbench/201...

"The Catholic Diocese of Sacramento no longer will fund programs at Francis House, a nonprofit agency that serves homeless people, because of its new director’s views supporting abortion rights and gay marriage."

"Fair and Balanced" for the far right only, as usual.

Never mind, just the idiot troll blathering about Obama as usual, bringing in all sorts of offtopic nonsense to foul up every thread on Topix.

It's what he does, after all. All he's capable of, I guess. Watch him attack this post like the rabid dog he is.:)

The world has been run your way or the way you approve of for forty years and more. Chruch's kept whole neighborhoods together even with differences and the regional church did things for the poor and impoverished and unwanted at pennies on the dollar compared to today. Now that the system created is falling apart, and it is, we will see real suffering with no lifeline from those church's coming close to what they did for people back then. The government is heartless at its worse. As practically all have been in human history. Its our turn in the chute. Jihad! Geez!

He wasn't doing anything wrong! It's no different than asking them if they needed to talk about their problems and he listened to them and encouraged them. He was not trying to mandate a state church. He asked if they wanted to pray, that's all. A man of faith wanting to pray for these people with no intention of implying, "Pray! or leave."

Do you try to be that ignorant or does it come natural to you? The man feels for these people and was trying to encourage them by sharing his prayers IF they wanted him to. You people hate God so much that suddenly a kind man of faith is now a religious NUT?? Give me a break!
