JOHN POPICK blasts POLice dept plans

After reading an article written by John POPICK blasting the Chiefs plan to re-organize the department I just had to respond.
First off Mr. POPICK claims he is a police officer with 27 years experience. Really? What is your pension looking like? You are all of a sudden very concerned about Seymour's police pension, but what about Stratfords? You don't care about theirs? I didn't think so. You are a fraudululant phony of epic proportions!
You come up with no real savings but somehow the Chief, the officers, the union, and all the politicians all found it to be just fine.
Hmmmmmm makes me think why would you be so against something that everyone was for? You wouldn't happen to have ulterior motives would you?

The Captain in question is a liar. Just ask anyone where he is employed! Don't believe anything this guy writes. He has ZERO credibility.

Both obviously written by the same "critic".
I worked with this captain.
For those who don't know him, the reason some folks don't care for him is because he calls it like he sees it.
If you don't want an honest answer, don't ask him the question.
Do the math. Read the article in the register. He makes sense on this. If you know about police work, staffing and management, he is on the money.
Think about it.
Would have been very easy to go along and get along on this issue. Unless of course you don't agree and believe that you occupy your position of trust to do the right thing for your community.
I'm guessing that is exactly what he did.

This is no cop! It's ok for this guy to come up here and impose rules and regulations that he doesn't want imposed on him? Give me a break. Go work on Stratfords pension before you want to work on Seymour's....

I wonder if Ex-Commissioner Popik could share his spreadsheet which shows how his restructuring plan is superior to Chief Metzlers reorganization plan?
Has Ex-Commissioner Popik implemented any of his savings plans in his current "day job"?
Has Ex-Commissioner Popik saved his "day job" employer any monies?
Has Ex-Commissioner Popik made officers at his "day job" more accountable?
Which processes at Ex-Commissioner Popik "day job" has he streamlined?
Any specific accomplishments for Ex-Commissioner Popik?
Or is Ex-Commissioner Popik just generally a "good old boy"?
How has Ex-Commissioner Popik's "over 27 years experience" bolstered his "day job"?
Did Ex-Commissioner Popik ever meet with Chief Metzler to show him his superior restructuring plans?
Or did Ex-Commissioner Popik just try to "throw the guy under the bus"?

After reading John Popik's letter and resume doesn't it look like he was bucking for the chiefs job?
Like right out from under the guy?
Gee, do you think that being on the Police Commission was to get his chubby foot in the door to replace the current chief?
And now with the new PD structure it is more likely the next chief will come from the hard working officers within the department?
Who will he grace with his vast knowledge next?
Popik needs to follow the Yellow Brick Road.

"This restructuring was the deciding factor for my resignation, said Popik, who was elected to the Board of Police Commissioners in November 2011.Over the last couple of years, I have viewed what I perceive as mismanagement due to decisions being made based on personal agendas, political favors and vendettas, affecting crucial components of police operations including discipline and promotions. I feel it is not ethical for me to be part of this process.
Just like it would not be ethical to let detectives ride around in a stolen car or go to Seymour on duty for a back wax?
John would be an expert on this type of thing since that is what he and his buddies the Buturla boys and Miron did in Stratford. Why was it ethical for him to be a part of it in Stratford?
But Popik disagrees.
In short, the chiefs plan of restructuring is appalling, Popik said.The plan gives pay raises to individuals by way of job title changes without a commensurate change of duties. Additionally, these promotions come without a legitimate testing process, a probationary period or a performance-based contract. Even more troubling is that the restructuring did absolutely nothing to address the departments two major problems, which are the number of officers absent from police duties and overtime expense issues.
Why does the Union support it as a win-win? I guess Popik knows more than everyone

I'm guessing Popik is a quitter he abandoned his position of trust on the commission. What happened to doing the right thing for the community? Why are you running away? Doesn't your oath as a commissioner mean anything?

Popik turned his back on his supposed principles, this not what a leader does. I guess he never learned that in his classes and tests. He belongs with those cold , timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat and that really is appalling. I wonder how he is at his Day job.

Ex-Commisioner Popik ran this ethical operation - got his guy 30 days off without pay.
That guy also quit.
Does Popik have a spreadsheet so we can see how much use the stolen car had?
And the overtime? Line by line?

Popik claims he was promoted through a competitive exam process. My question is : did he ever finish first on those exams? Or did the list get so far down they finally got to him? How competitive was he? Did he finally make it to the top because all the smarter guys have retired?. Just saying.

So The Popik Plan would block Seymour cops from going to the FBI Academy by keeping them as "Master Sergeants".
Of course he would keep the FBI Academy as a requirement to be chief or deputy chief under The Popik Plan.
Of course Popik has already gone to the FBI Academy - so he is already qualified to be the chief in Seymour under The Popik Plan.
Of course the officers already working there there would never qualify under The Popik Plan.
Of course Popik does not see a problem with The Popik Plan - because "he is a captain".

This guy is a cop still?
He couldn't catch a cold if it was sneezed on him'. I don't discriminate against overweight people but I do have a problem with a guy that claims he is gods gift to the world cop and can't run down a flight of stairs.

Eric, very cool that you have known him and are on his side! I applaud friends....... What I don't applaud is co-workers who back stab other co-workers.
If you don't believe me go to 900 Longbrook avenue and ask the employees there. I am quite sure 90 percent will all tell the same story about the same guy........ Just saying
