Bijou Square key to downtown revival

There was something in the air in downtown Bridgeport Wednesday night, almost as tangible as the smell of freshly baked pizza or the sounds of live music performed by some of the city's top musical acts. Full Story

<quoted text>Section 8 is what killed this city to begin with. The city needs home ownership. Push out the free loaders. And just care for the ones who TRULY need it.
There are many Section 8 housing. I am againt city section 8 housing. We need federal section 8 house for senior citizens and handicaps people who can't afford to pay more then 30% of their income for rent with electric and heat and hot water including. As you known is that Cable TV and the electric rates keep going up every year. It is always good to hear from you.

What a bunch of BS,,,,Nobody in their right mind are going to patronize downtown Bridgeport, especislly st night..The typical person from the Suburbs knows the reputation the city has and they would not risk their lives to go downtown for a meal or drink...Its not like Hartford or New Haven folks...Bpt is dead from the top down, strickly a 9 to 5 town...and thats a Fact!
you are very ignorant first of all you can't spell(strickly) so you obvously are NOT from the suburbs. Risk thier life? What are you talking about? Hartford has a much higher crime rate than bridgeport. New haven is a joke a lot more dangerous than bridgeport. Stop giving out misinformation and outright lies. Bridgeport is more boring than it is dangerous.

You should visit downtown before you judge it. It really has changed for the better. I've been there many times for different events and never felt unsafe. There are great restaurants (Joseph's, Ralph and Rich's, etc.) Two Boots is a happening bar. The Klein and Downtown Cabaret have great shows and Harbor Yard has fun events. Don't knock it until you try it. I am thrilled with the positive changes happening in downtown Bridgeport.

The track record for Bridgeport is not good. The Bluefish almost folded. The Fairfield University men's team can not draw flies. The fact remains that the city may be under a revitalization era but honestly the jury is still out. I hope for the best but I have been around almost 50 years so I will need a lot of convincing.

You are right. The rents in Bridgeport are very high. It is going to be very hard to find people who want to live downtown. There are some good people on welfare. But, we both known that people on welfare will do damage to thier apartments. I hope you are sitting down. Condominums accross the street from the probation office is going for $200,000.00.
#49 is correct. It took many years to build this building, as my brother would tell you.
