No, over 6 years. I guess I am one of the lucky ones, Janice has always been nice to me. That said, there has been a few times I have spoken with her about an issue (T Ray mostly) and nothing was resolved. I truly feel that many of the problems stem from her boss (Queen Ellen), I could be wrong, but for me I like Janice.

I have been in the healthcare field for 20+ years one thing I have learned is you dont trust anyone..When it comes down to it they would sell you out in a moments notice..With that said I do my job as hard as Icanbut we dont have the people to take care of everything...We are losing ground and fast...But do they care ...I have heard to work smarter not harder but theres just so much we can do...We need help but our CFO sees things through a different glass.
crunching numbers and dealing with cold hard facts are another...
Assuming that what I have heard about the hospital not making money has nothing to do with what we are doing to keep things going...Its not going to get better until they change their attitude about us and reaize that we are the ones that keep the doors open...Theres no magic bullet to get rid of the problem...Its just people working together to provide quality healtcare and provide a healthy/safety enviroment...If management was so smart they would have figured that out...you think

Hey, Did the hospital really close some of the ER rooms? How many rooms are being used? How many docs? How many pts to each nurse? I have heard some real painful stories about the ER care. Don't feel like it is directed to just a few, but not enough staff to cover. Too many responsibilites for one person. Sure makes me sad. I really feel like they moved way too soon. Sounds like maintenance is busy finding all kinds of troubles with the building. What about the smell? Electrical outlets covered up by walls? I would say that is a health issue for everyone. A dangerous place to work and be cared for when sick. I really don't have the answers, but seems like if all of you that works there would all get together and call in on the same day, for maybe a few days together, some people would take note to these concerns.

The majority of Sevierville EMS are extremely cocky, self serving, self centered, egotistical, and basically not that great. There are only a few there who really seem to get it. I can't figure out how or why a paramedic would ever get the idea they are above Dr's and Nurses. You should see how they walk around the ER all puffed up like they've done something. It's almost comical. Look at us we picked someone up - started an IV and brought them to the Dr's and Nurses for help. I wonder if they know we make fun of them after they leave. If truth be told these are more than likely the people that couldn't get into a Nursing Program or relatives of the people in charge of it. Maybe they should be grateful to the people who utilize their service and keep them employed. Come on EMS why don't you walk over to LeConte Medical Center and say "Thanks" to a Dr or Nurse!

You all may want to check out "Ambulance Service Reports" here on topix. I just copied the above from one of its postings. It gets a little hairy, but now we know what the EMS think of our hospital, and unforttunately our staff as well.

You say they should walk over to LeConte and say thanks to a Dr. or Nurse. Well maybe you should get in the back of the ambulance the next time you send out your tenth transfer of the day and say thanks to the health care workers in Knoxville for doing the job you can't. The County may have put up a bigger tent but we have the same circus.

Sorry, for some reason the last did not copy over, so I had to put it in here

Alright bringins other topix post doesrnt help any at all. That ambulance fourm has nothing to do with this one or the hospital and employees. That ambulance fourm is a joke and a few DA's trying to start stuff. And that's not what the hospital really thinks about the ems or what the ems thinks about the hospital. Everyhing in there and even this post are a bunch of crybabies that think they are big and bad. If you have a true opinion put your name down or stand up to the people your pissed at and shut up.

I agree this has nothing to do with what this forum is about . It is getting focus away from what we need and that is help . We have some major management issues and some real health risks . Trying to get us to fight between ourselves is crazy .

I agree that The EMS issue doesnt have a place here. It fails to compare with the issues and concerns that we face at the hospital..So put your issue on a forum that deals with your concerns..

The hospital has spun a web that they are having trouble getting people stuck in the mess...We yell foul about safety of the patients and the physical healt issues that doesnt mean anything to them...Its all about the money,,,We speak out to be heard and to sway Manangement to fix the problems...We have even offered to set with you in a meeting and discuss our concerns but most if not all do not want to speak when we do not have someone else to cover our backs...Its not that difficult to talk the situation out ..But then again its not a fixed agenda that is prompted with a one sided view or opinion...At least you could hear from the employees face to face and then make a decision... You ask for our feedback then let us voice our concerns and issues without retaliation..Stick to the policies that CovHlth has in the books and set a positive example and you may earn the respect of the employee and the community...

I 100% agree, we are very lucky with our EMS teams. Unfortunately, I have come upon an accident here in our county a few times. Last summer one at the bridge to nowhere (yes I know it has a name, but I have been calling it this for years, and I think its funny). The ambulance that came to the call was great and they knew their stuff! Of course I did know them from the hospital, but the hurt gentleman and his wife did not. They were in great hands. We all need to stand and support each other. Like we are trying to do at the hospital. Some may think we are slamming the administration by voicing our concerns about safety at Le Conte Med Ctr, but at this point what else can we do? We are already working our hind ends off, and have tried the proper channels within the hospital! We are now taking it to the people, warning them of the dangers and trying to get Knoxville to listen. Slowly and steadily people are noticing what is going on around them. Knoxville is starting to see what is going on, especially with the help of our sisters and brothers at other Covenant facilities. We thank them for fighting for us.

Today is Friday, lets see what Monday brings. Have a great weekend and stay strong.

Apparently, good ole boy system works good when you take a LPN and jump move them directly to HR, most HR people I know have education in knowing how to deal with people and what the labor laws are, but, in Covenant's Plan they do whatever they wish. For those of you that have been discriminated against and treated unfair do not bother to report your complaint to the "Integrity Committee" because they will not answer your complaint, they just keep putting you off in hope you forget everything and forgive, however, there are (2) great attorneys in Knoxville that will determine up front if you have a good case and cause. Don't ask for redemption ask for compensation.
I would like to know the names of the attorneys.

In regards to LeConte Hospital and the nursing home: You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, especially if the same pig farmers are running the farm. ADMINISTRATION in the hospital and nursing home could stand a huge amount of restructuring! Clean house & start over! Get rid of all the "bullies"!

I was rereading the posts from "Takethecake" and I realized something- Ellen (oops, sorry, forgot to use her "stage" name again)states she is going to "increase my efforts of making LeConte a huge success". She better increase by a whole lot, because no one has noticed she was even trying to in the first place. While she goes to this class to learn how to take care of patients she needs to haul the rest of management with her. Starting with the lovely T Ray, this is a woman who got her job solely on who she knows (code for- knows where the bodies are buried), she lacks social skills. She has a pinched face when she is trying to be open and friendly to people.
Now I like Janice, I think she shows some spirit at least. But the rest of HR are so-so.
Well good luck with your attempts at being human Ellen.
Janice is a joke, too. She needs to GO along with T. Ray, T. Franklin (and her crew of dummies), Ellen, S. Bramble, Breeding, and many, many, more.

I sit here and read the post and realize that we are drifting from the real reason that this was started, unfair labor practices, nepatism, good ole boys club, and a extreme understaff condition..If we get off on anything other than the true reason this started than it will play into EW's hands. We need change and it will only happen if we keep the pressure on them...
The community has the right to know what goes on there. The safety of the patients and provide a healthy enviroment. Something that is nonexistent
TOSHA must have worked on them pretty
good...Serious issues that will have to be addressed...They(LECONTE) will have to post what they found ...May make for some interesting reading....If you see something instead of going to management and voicing concerns just file a complaint with the state someone will show up and issues will have to be addressed..And quickly... So lets stay focuced and get the hospital where it needs to be and get the attention needed to get things done OK

Time to get to the heart of the matter:

1. Unsafe patient to medical staff ratio
2. Patient safety is not up to par
3. ER not up too proper standards
4. Building has safety issues
5. Odd odors in the hospital
6. Staff extremely over-worked
7. Management is more concerned over "looks" than safety
8. Management ignores and threatens staff

Did I forget anything?

Amen! Stay focused on what you started, all your concerns about patient safety and a better workplace. If you don't stay focused and continue to vent about unrelated issues it only makes one question the validity of your concerns. As I have said before the public will support you because we all want a facility we can trust in the event we need medical care instead of driving to Knoxville. I have faithfully read all your concerns and comments and you have lost sight of the heart of the matter. I do have concerns about some of the very unprofessional nasty comments made about the ambulance service, if you are an employee, you really don't need to be working in a healthcare facility with that attitude, that is scary. I don't know of anyone that would want someone that talks that way to take care of them in the event one has to go to the hospital. How can you expect the public to support you as employees with these type of comments. By chance, I did talk with an emt today, seems most all of them were very supportive of you as employees because they see firtshand what most of you are experiencing. If this is how you choose to treat those that support you then how can you ever expect the public to stand by you?

I too read this blog and want to support the hospital staff. We need and deserve a great hospital in our county. But, I am like many residents of this county- I will be going to Knoxville until I feel LCMC is a safe hospital.

I have the utmost respect for the nurses, cna's, doc's, and other staff of the hospital. I wouldn't give you two dimes for the management team. I met a few at the open house for LCMC and was not overly impressed. The staff of the hospital were warm and friendly, but this is not enough for me to use the hospital.

As my granny used to say "a pretty face can hide an evil heart".

I also wanted to comment on the EMS. They work in some of the most dangerous situations anyone could imagine, and I'm sure the pay is very low. They deserve our respect. Don't let a few trouble makers turn you from the task at hand- a hospital we can trust with our lives!
