I think it was because all the other management was out there but I did not see EW maybe I just missed her but I found it odd . Also I was expecting ice cream and no ice cream . Why can't we have our ice cream . But I do love the shirt ( probably don't wash them don't think they will make it ) but I would be afraid to wear it with the fear of being struck by lighting by the lie printed on the back .
Well maybe the next social will work better .

Are you pointing out to management the problems or just discussing it among yourselves here on topix ? and someone stated I haven't read all the post but i have surely tried. but I didn't learn until last-night of the new facility. and it sorta made me thankful and proud that you folks were getting a new health facility. sorry if I have overstepped my ground.
You belong to this community and have every right to ask questions. And yes I have TRIED to talk with management, HR, and even wrote questions on the notecards we are given to write down questions or concerns. It seems we have hit a block wall and certain people in management wish to turn a blind eye.

I worry about the safety of everyone involved. It is a sad fact that many employees will go to Knoxville instead of using our new hospital..I think this speaks volumes. There have been quite a few problems with patients care. I will not give any specific info (names and such have already been given), but I can tell you that as a member of the nursing staff I and others do the best we can.

Thank you for asking questions and caring about our hospital and its staff

I've sat back and read what people have said got months now. I will say that some complaints have some validity to a certain point. Let's look at the intimidation complaint....hmmm....CNO replaced, well that should improve. Staffing issues...can't do nothing about it until the new budget comes out in Mid year, right? Blaming people in charge will get you nowhere. Look toward corporate for your staffing needs, they hold all the cards. My opinion is that if you treated unfairly or intimidated, move on. It's not worth the fight. See if the grass is greener. If not, stop this. Work together to make improvements. This hospital is not run by one or two people, but it is ran by it's employees. I hope things get better.
WELL, HELLO MANAGEMENT!
It didn't take you too long to come back. Seriously, I would have thought you would take a day or two off.

Your "opinion" is for us to move on if we are unhappy- don't think so. You also state "not worth the fight", please, getting another job is easy! But, I don't want another job! The hospital is "ran by its employees", sort of, we run it as the workers, but we in no way have any control over policy or procedure.

You give yourself away with your words. We and this county deserve and demand a SAFE hospital, and hiding our heads in the sand will not cut it!

Of course all we are doing at this point is venting, BECAUSE MANAGEMENT REFUSES TO LISTEN. Will more people have to get hurt or die before you listen. TRUST ME, I WOULD RATHER SPEND MY TIME WITH MY FAMILY OR WHATEVER, NOT POSTING ON THIS SITE. But, until someone listens and acts we will be here.

Hold onto your hat: I'm not management, but I find it funny that unless you completely take the side that all management should be fired or let go that I have to be management. So for your information I have no affiliation with your hospital. I'm just a member of the community. I read this blog because of things I had heard in the community. I too have family that use this hospital. As far as giving myself away with words as management, I have no idea what that is supposed to mean other than I seem educated. This blog has made me tell those family members to stay away from your facility.
So in turn with this blog you turn people from this hospital to UT where all the best nurses and staff went to. From there your census will drop. Acuity levels will drop. Corporate will give you no new money for new employees. Your pay will level off. And this is what you want people to notice. It becomes a snowball in the wrong direction. Two wrongs do not make a right. You guys are doing the right thing by being on here. Great job!! I'm sure over time you will accomplish all your goals as stated above.

You state you are not management, nor do you work in the medical field? I find that amazing considering your terminology. I personally feel our census should stay low until things are fixed. Some equiptment is not working properly, better safe guards need to be in place (I will not give specifics here in this forum, but people in depts know), better training/cross training, and the biggest problem of all under staffing in key depts. Its a viscious circle, staff states we need more help on the floor and management states our census does not warrant more staff. The ratio needs to be re-evaluated! And please do not give the tired story of "all hospitals use the same ratio"-NOT. LCMC uses a ratio far differant than Regional or Parkwest. Lets also talk about needing to lock=down our hospital a few weeks ago. EW felt that the staff and security over-reacted and there was no need to it? This on the heels of the shootings at Parkwest. LCMC needed to have these ironed out prior to opening or at the very least ironed out after the shocking deaths at Parkwest.

Yes, you can say that this forum is just a bunch of people whining and not coming up with ideas. You should sit in on some of these so called Studor/forum meetings. There truly no place a employee can safely present a problem without worring about retaliation if they step on someones toes. I have enver thought that all of management needs to go, but there are a few who need to be retrained or let go.

This sounds like JK or EW put alot of thought into this...Rest assured I will recommend people considering having medical issues addressed at LMC to go else where till I see a change in the way things are and issues are resolved...They dint care about safety they dont care that there are inderstaffed areas..We are struggling to keep our heads above water in our department...It is absolutely mayhen in there and thereis nothing management will do to help...At some point in a deptmant..Less is not better and safety becomes a bigger concern when mangaement will
not listen to our worries...Pay what stinking pay I havent seen a dime..If anything I see a decrease in pay .insurance continues to climb deductibles are higher medicines are higher and we are a self supporting self insured company...Whats the deal

It seems if current employees of LeConte Medical Center are posting such negative comments then that is a shame. Over the years the employees have worked so hard to make FSSMC and now LeConte into a hospital we can be proud of and a place where Sevier County residents can go and have faith they will receive the very best care available.
I would have to say that the employees posting here have a special gift allowing them to see who needs to be fired and what is wrong with everything in the LeConte Medical system. It pains me to see your talent being wasted - We don't deserve you. Maybe St. Mercy would better serve you or UT?
Lets please move on from the red hair streaks - That is a argument that you will never win - I am very happy for the pay increase and better job the employee received - sounds like both parties are better off!
Uniform costs are part of many occupations. Construction Workers, Secretaries, and I believe the Police all furnish their own clothes ? I have a feeling that if LeConte gave you uniforms you would complain they were wrinkled :)
The ER manager stepping down was a personal choice - trying to get the Dr's, staff, and patient flow to run smoothly is something that needs to be worked on - These ER issues are addressed on a daily basis and I think you are a little high on the census #'s - with the exception of a few very busy individual days. The process of increasing staff relies on a consistant volume increase that will support the additional staff or the risk of losing hours and layoffs looms in the distance.
There are always new processes and change in personel when a new facility opens - That's all part of it - If one isn't willing to change and accept progress then one is dragged behind it resisting all the way or they are asked to move on.
I guess the employees posting these types of messages will not be content until they give the new facility a bad name, run off patienTs, and eventually decrease volumes until they are sent home permenantly ? I hope the other large employer in Sevier County (Dollywood) has openings for you - I think they provide uniforms!!
So employees who have put their lives into a facility and participate in plans for a new facility, have money taken from their paychecks to support funding of a new facility, lobby for a new facility, make the transition and get everything up and running.......they should expect a possible change in their employment status? Seems that has happened to a few of us who found ourselves in that position. Employees with roots in TN and a love for Sevier County are "forced to resign". As mentioned in previous posts.....people with no loyalty to the community and the patients are the ones left. Too bad the building was paid for but somehow the budget for the light bill and salaries were totally forgotten. As previous posts state.....be careful who you cross or complain to and always watch your back. Oh and......just wondering.....how's all the numbers for patient satisfaction looking?

This Hospital is not run by the employees. Any employees that has spoken out has lost their jobs. Even most management of departments don't have any say. That is why ICU is without a manager and ER is now without a manager. EW and JK micromanages from their office. The employees had no say on putting us in a facility with all new equipment and not give us training. Not knowing how to work the equipment in a hospital is life and death not like not knowing how to work a cash register.

Management does not have a clue . They go home at 5pm while the nursing staff is struggling to give the safest care possible. They go home and try to figure out how to shut the site down, not how to fix the problems. The people on this site are the ones that go home and cry because they want to do more . The people on this site are here as a last resort. because this administration don't care.

Here are the fact , I'm glad the census is down because the hospital not safe . and if the census is down long enough someone from Knoxville will listen. This is not about losing overtime, in our department there is 2 to 3 open nurses spots a shift. it is about not having the staff to run a hospital.

The ER has closed down about 10 rooms for the next 2 months at least. So now the New improved ER is running less rooms then The old hospital. Now that is the best thing that has been done since they moved because ER was drowning . But this wasn't the management that came up with this. This was are ER physicans demanding they do something.

Here is how I see it Management needs to be replaced for many reasons. One is they had years to figure out this move . The picked out lamps and put flat screens in all the rooms a bed that talk in 30 some languages. But know where during this planning did they think about how to staff the hospital? not only that but 2 weeks after we moved in they needed to cut staffing ? How does any of this make sense.( also no management lost money or any of their staff)

Also I would like to say EW came in when we had a threat on the staff and did not want us to lock down why police was chasing the person in the parking lot. Parkwest had the shooting 4 days before. And this person had just got out of jail for a threat on the staff a few days before. and just a FYI we were told we do not have a writing policy for a lockdown. EVERY STAFF Member that was standing there and heard, Basic heard her say that looks was more important then staff and that she don't have a clue. and remember this was 4 days after Parkwest and the threating person was already taken from our hospital a few days before by police.

SO ITS TIME FOR A TRUE CHANGE FOR EXCELLENCE

No lockdown policy is a disgrace, it not only places staff in emminent danger but also patients and others visiting patients, as I see it those who are in the ER when a threat is imposed, those people are sitting ducks for someone that has gone over the edge. All or most all Knoxville facilities have lock down policies when a threat is imposed. I guess this is just another instance of how LCMC is caring for the public. I sure hope things improve for all of you that have the courage to remain, fight for what is right, it would be great to have a facitlity we as people of Sevier county can trust. Public awareness will be your best support, citizens of this county will support and respect that staff are fighting, not giving up because they want to have a respectable facility, which seems management is ignoring or even trying to make this the facility that it was promised to be on opening day. Keep the faith and don't waiver, stand strong because if you as staff give up fighting, the situation will never be rectified and how many more innocent patients will incur serious complications or die.

You would think. Covenant Health is huge. Our Queen Bee Ellen, has been able to rule her roost as she sees fit--and she is running our hospital into the ground. She is more concerned with looks than anything else. Just read some of her antics, she truly was upset that a lock-down was ordered a few weeks ago when the man came to the hospital and threatened staff. This is just one of the recent items. She needs to be replaced, her time has come.
Teri Ray needs to go with her, she has cost our hospital some very good staff. She has a higher turn over than any other deptartment of Covenants Health, that includes any ER!

I go back and read post after post on the health and safety of the hospital...The failure from management to act on making things better...
I am curious...Would Rick C or Ellen W want their fanilies to come to Leconte in the current enviroment..Or worse if they had a family member to expire because there wasnt enough nursing staff to properly treat them..Would they be so eager then to stand and say that things are wonderful and great..Everyone know that the hospital is in deep fininacial straits. When you go from $600,000 to probable a $1,000,000 to move across the street and we still arent finished..
What else are they going to take away because the hospital cant make budget..I dont even want to think about that...
If they could find out who's posting on this site, Id dare say that we would be looking for another job...We havent caused the hospital to struggle thats their fault...We only want a safe and healthy enviroment and a consistent policy thats not what ever they want, to suit there needs for the moment..Just hope they wake up and get to business...We can turn this around but we need to stick together until things change and problems addressed and fixed. Most of us will not come to this hospital for treatment, and will definately not bring love ones here! This hospital had the chance to turn around our public image and it failed badly.

How much longer will we employees be blamed? Management can only use us as a scape goat for so long-they need to own the mistakes
