I see your point, my son is nearly to middle school however you need to know the complete ins and outs and what has happend. No you havent offended me at all. I never said the other kid or kids were the worst player ever but when its obvious what is going on then its just plain crazy!Hopefully it gets better!

the truth is ,you will run into favoritism all the way thru High Schhol.Only the real players will go onto to play in College. The colleges dont care who the parents are or think they are.

Think about this: If all the kids that practice and don't get to play, go home, would they have a team?

I know at the high school level only 11 really get to play so if the other 40 plus players went home, they couldn't even have practice.

You have to make up your mind, to either support, stick it out and let your child be a practice dummy or go home and find another activity for your child.

Coaching is not about winning or even playing certain kids it is about modeling the young athletes you are coaching into fine young and women.

If parents across this nation start DEMANDING more of their coaches, and take their kids home, youth leagues all the way up to high school, will have to make changes because they won't have athletes!

Parents in turn need to speak up in groups, there is always safety in large numbers. You also need to remind yourself that education is the most important thing you can support your child in because it is a 100% guarantee of getting into college, sports, not so much!

Unless your child, and look at him/her objectively, is a freak of nature, the likelyhood of playing in the majors is slim! There is a lot of competition out there.

So, if your child is going to play sports, just encourage him/her to be the best he/she can be and teach them how to be a team player. You take on the coaches job!

I agree that sometimes we want so much for our kids to succeed that we do overlook their errors but tend to b the first to point out the other kids flaws. Coaches with kids playing r probably guilty of the same thing..Coaches do have a hard job not only dealing with the kids but also dealing with pissed off parents and those parents with "you need to try this" great ideas. everyone puts n alot of time and energy coaches kids and parents and we all get frustrated and forget the reason we r all here its for the kids and its supposed to b fun we all need to try to remember that...

it needs to go back to being about the kids. If you say the best players are going to play then thats how it should be. However I dont feel that just because you got to be the coach or asst. coach that means your kid is one of the best players. All that is, is using the spoils to put your child over. From what Ive seen the coaches never achieved much glory and live through their children and then instead of being stand up coaches they let their friends come out during practice and talk/beg or whatever to make sure they use influence for their kid to play.I know my son has flaws and is not the greatest player in the world but if the best players should play then shouldnt that be what happens? I mean how do u play 13 kids at the max for 98 percent of the game both ways and have the guts to sit the other 22? Then when the "second stringers" go out and mess up the speech after the game is well we did the first part of the game! The second stringers dont get taught anything at practice other then to stand around and be practice dummys. They dont get to run the ball that much or block that much or catch that much but then when and if they get to play and dont do much positive they get talked down to? or treated like they didnt try? Meanwhile the parents are out 65 for the child to play/sit the bench, not to mention money to pay the gate fee to watch the child to play and shoes, etc... As a former player who played college ball and have coached/refereed etc... I feel sorry for people who this is all they have to hold on to! If these kids who sit the bench all the time dont come back and the parents dont pump the money out the program will die! This should be about the kids learning and becoming better players so they can move up and help the high school program. I dont care how much you win and trophies and all that. After a week or two whos gonna remember or care? Its as if UT or a Nfl team is gonna call and say hey we heard what u did with the litlle kids wanna coach men? Whatever! Please make it about the kids and not the failed glory of the coaches!

My son plays football and he doesn't play as much as his dad and I would like for him to play. With that being said we don't say anything to the coach because we don't want to be those kind of parents. We have alot of respect for the coaches and our son should not be on first sting. There are other kids who are faster and more expirenced. If the game is close then I don't think inexpirenced players should be put in the game for the sake of everyone playing. We want our son to work for his playing time. I think it's ashame some parents yell from the stands to put their child in the game. I think it underminds the coach and it's embarrassing. There will always be a few stars and that's ok. That's life. Lets remember we need show good sportsmanship in all areas. I think the worst thing anyone can do is talk negative about a child. I overheard a mother say the only reason a particular child plays alot is because his dad is an assistant coach. I thought this was an unfair comment because the child does well.

This was my son's 1st yr and he LOVED it! He is looking forward to next yr as well. He didn't get alot of "game" time but was happy with what he did get. Alot of parents really do lose site of the important thing...Did they have fun and learn anything in the process??

Well when its obvious what is going on it is obvious! As a parent and former player and coach I didnt want to be that parent but when it is smack in your face obvious what is going on then something should be at least discussed! How is it fair that when game awards are handed out 90 percent are too a coach's kid so they can have their awe moment? when 11 play at a time and 8 are coaches kids that is overwhelming odds against the others on the team to get playing time or a game award. I dont want my child playing because who I am or was, or that Im a former coach or buddies with the current coaches. My child works his butt off even on days off, attends camps and has the ability! As being a fair person and a person who has coached I understand the difficulty of the positon but that also doesnt make it right that with the victor go the spoils either! Its straight up politics and buddy system and it dont just happen to my son. If my son didnt have the talent and should be on the bench there would be not a sound from me, but when you have others on the team other parents tell you your boy should be playing and starting then that says it all! P.s I have one other son who isnt as good or as talented and is older and I never have said one word about how much he plays or dont!

depends on what positon your son plays or wants to play. You can check on the internet under youth football camps in your area, I try to stay away from the local high school ran camps as most are ran by high school coaches and dont focus on a certain position.Positon camps are gonna cost more We havent been to the UT camp as we have a couple we go to one in the winter and one in the spring. We have one in Atlanta we have attended the past couple of years and also one in Florida we have family that live in both states so all we have to provide is fee and transportation. The camp we attend in Atlanta also goes to california and Nevada. This is through National Football Academies. These camps help players starting at age 8 on through high school not to mention major college coaches attend and teach at these camps to recruit players as young as 13 like the kid who just verbally committed to USC! Find out what position your son is good at or wants to play and go from there. My son not only plays football and has ability he is also in advanced classes and makes terrific grades. This is an outlet around the bs at the local level. This will be our 3rd year of camps. Good Luck!

Things surely have changed at the park, best I remember no one got awards at the banquet. All the players were given a trophy and gift purchased by their parents.

15 players who play most of the time, 8 coaches all with kids on the team and after each game their is a game ball given to the player of the game and two gift cards given to players who made great contributions on offense and defense! Yes I have seen coaches kids get the game ball and the awards most of the time even when others have played better in the game, alot of parents dont come forward or say anything so not to affect the childs little or no playing time. Saw a parent "speak" to the head of the team last week and was threatend with the cops being called on him just heard the end of it though, none of my business!

The Broncos gonna take it to Newport for the second time this Saturday and then show Seveirvile they were lucky once this season in the Super Bowl, supers got something for ya this time. Wont be no homefield refs this time to give the bears the ball in the redzone twice!

Team spirit is great, but it's not necessary for fans to blame refs. Hopefully, all fans from Newport and Dandridge will show good sportsmanship. Best of luck to all the teams in the playoffs.

Last time I remember at Dandridge it was the Newport folks who wanted to fight and agrue every single call and the game was really over in the first half when we were up 19-6, talk about bad sportsmanship. In the game we played vs Sevierville it was two blown calls that put Sevierville in scoring range both times! Its obvious by someone saying suck one that Newport knows whats gonna happen on Sat! Dont matter if we played on the moon! Broncos gonna win and Newport is gonna whine!
