thats awesome because i see the rent is kind of expensive right in sevierville which i expected so close to pigeon forge and gatlinburg, i wanted something close to town but not rightin the bustle if i could avoid it. so seymour and kodak. i will be sure to check those out! thanks so much! and i was worried about the job too, but that makes me feela little better, awesome!

Worst move we ever made. Tourist town, people are slackers. Would like to say something nice, but other than the mountains, really can't.

Seymour is best location and just 15 min from Pigeon Forge, Maryville, and Knoxville. Not many restaurant, just best in Sevier County. Seymour schools are excellent. Rush hour traffic is the only bad part, after its over traffic is light.

so it is very close to a lot of jobs then? i know gatlinburg/pigeon forge area fairly well and theres a lot of restaraunts stores etc... so it would seem there were jobs to be had? i would love something in a peaceful area but close enough to town have many work options for us. i also hear kodak is nice?

Kodak is ok but you can't leave town without tourist traffic. Kodak is at exit 407 which is the main route to Gatlinburg.

i dk exit numbers but i know whatever the main road is that goes through pigeon forge to gatlinburg with the tanger outlet bennetts bbq comedy barn all that jazz, not sure what the name of the road is tho... does tourist traffic slow down a certain time of year? i feel obnoxious asking so many questions on here haha i just dont know anyone down there and would like to know more day to day information before i come. im concerned about coming without a job though, i have enought money for a few months rent/food/bills/gas, but im wondering how easy it is to find jobs. i thought it might not be that bad because there are so many "service" jobs there (food stores things like that) but i want to make sure I can find work when i get there. I have never had a problem interviewing or working or learning new skills, its just the availability i am concerned with.

im really hoping to get a restaraunt job, lame goal in life huh lol, but i think i do a good job and i like the fast pace and i feel itd be the best money i could make short term and in cash. that is awesome though that was my biggest concern since i have a son i want to make sure i have work ASAP when we get there. i really appreciate everyones input on this, it makes me feel a little better about coming. it will probably be summer time before we get there so hopefully things are bustling enough to get work!

Kodak is great because it is not far away from all the attractions and restaurants the area has to offer. But it is also close enough to Knoxville. It takes us about half an hour to get to either downtown K-ville or Pigeon Forge (usually unless like this weekend when there will be extra traffic due to Rod Run). We've lived in Kodak for a few years now and really enjoy it. Yes, the traffic can be bad, especially with all the road work. But you learn some backroads and kind of get used to it. We have timing our destinations down to a science now. LOL

And there are plenty of restaurant jobs, it seems. I know they are about to open Joe's Crab Shack and are hiring for that.

We agree wholeheartedly with Bubba! We moved here to open a business. Very redneck and good ol' boy. If you weren't born in Sevier County, you are, and always will be, an outsider. VERY strange folk! We literally made two friends, who are great, the whole time we were there!

Pay is low. Employees are hard to find. Rent is high. People are trashy. Leaving was a great move for us!

this isn't the best time to open a business.i work 2 jobs.i only know a few people born in sevier county.the ones i do know i am good friends with.i am from eastern ky.i am more hillbilly than people born here.maybe that's why.pay is low.when you get a raise it's like 19,16,15cents or even lower.only a couple of places drug test.i think that is weird.but there are still jobs everywhere.
