Another genius truck driver. If CDL regulations only allowed truckers to drive a vehicle as tall in inches as the drivers IQ, this type of accident would not happen.

Over a decade ago some local and County officials asked PennDOT to please install some "drag chains" set to the same height of the underpass along each approach.

They would be a final warning for any overheight vehicle. The sound of the scraping chains would indicate that it was too tall,.

PennDOT refused....said they didn't have a standard or a protocol for that.

So write a new one!

Now another part of the problem--the northbound approach is a fairly steep hill. It is entirely possible for a vehicle with a long wheelbase==like an 18 wheel cement TT--to be within the proper height ON THE LEVEL but the upward thrust of the vehicle on the slope makes it over height.

They must of freed it by letting the air out of the tires and towed it away.

It's realtively easy - READ the friggin signs...it tells you the clearnace of the underpass. If you have a CDL and driving a big truck, you should know the height of your vehicle and be able to read. Can it get much easier than that?

This is a constant problem with that bridge, and whether there GPS says the wrong height of the bridge or not, there is a big yellow sign on the bridge itself stating the height of it!! Are they too stupid to read it!?

Word is the driver was from south of the border and told the State cop that his 12 foot truck was lower than 11 feet 1 inch.

Definitely one taco short of a combination platter.

Are you this stupid in person, or do you save it up for when you post?

Obviously they aren't reading signs or cannot read English ~ which doesn't seem to be a requirement for truck drivers. Also...the GPS told me I could go this way? If it told you to drive off a cliff...would you?

The driver who got hit by a trian in Goldsboro also was just " following his GPS ".

CDL= can't drive a lick.
