I feel that when these morons raise taxes like they do. The people should be allowed to recall the morons they voted into office.

John Doe, tell me again how you want to pay for that roadwork that was done? If you don't want your property taxes to go up, how do you propose to pay for basic local government functions? Or would you rather just live with crappy roads and leaky sewer and water lines? Before you start calling people morons, offer up at least one solution. I'll give you one to get your started: Let's see what might happen if Seven Valleys could merge with Springfield Township. Here's another: Let's have the state pass a law giving local municipalities flexibility in pursuing new sources of revenue across a region.

How about we CUT wasteful government spending, cut unnecessary programs, reign in the bureaucratic free for all spending spree, reduce their salaries (since we ALL have to feel the pain), and eliminate BS government jobs. How about increasing sales tax so EVERYONE is paying their fair share (VAT tax) and hard working homeowners are no longer punished for being responsible.

Property Tax is the most unfair imbalanced way to tax. This is America -- we should not be punished for owning home or owning nice homes. There has to be a more fair and balanced way to get the funds. Sales Tax or Taxes on luxuries are much better options.

York grl, the sales tax idea is worth exploring. Gov. Rendell proposed cutting the tax rate and expanding the items on which the tax can be collected. The Legislature wouldn't go for it. The rest of your comments seem to be directed at state and federal government. I don't think the Seven Valleys folks have much in the way of "wasteful government spending" to get rid of. And Reap, I don't know the political affiliation of the elected officials in Seven Valleys, but I don't think they come from the tax-and-spend Big Government line of thinking.

Gov Rendell wanted to put sales tax on everything and up the rate to 6.5%. That money would of not done anything for Seven Valleys. It would of went to Harrisburg and been wasted. Maybe with new faces in Harrisburg and Washington things will get better. But raising anybodies tax propety, sales or individual taxes is a very bad thing right now. Goverment needs to cut back alot. The roads in Seven Vallys are 2 intersecting State roads the State takes care of them. You need to find out how much the local goverment workers are paying themselves. They have to tell you(truth of freedom act). Then look how much the pensions are they are paying out. How much do they pay the unions. This is where to start. Look at the local officals in CA. They were paying themselves(with taxpayer dollars)$900,000 per year this would bankrupt any comunity. So stop arguing and find out call the newspaper call Fox 43 or News 8. Don't let them take anymore of YOUR money. YES it is YOUR money!!!!
Yes I live in North Codorus Twp. so I do know what is going on in the community. North Cordorus need investigated also!!!

I am happy to pay a little more, being that my family and I live on one of the two streets they paved. Maple St. is the street used by the tractor trailors to aviod the low bridge in town. It was covered in massive holes and dips making it highly difficult to drive on in inclement weather. This road really needed repaired and I think everyone should have expected this. It really isn't going to be doubled. If you read the aritcle it is bascically saying if your tax is at $3000 a year now, it will only increase about $50-$60 for a short span of time. It isn't actually doubling, it's just a headline to capture attention and make you read it, not reason to argue about Democrats or Republicans.
