What's a Dallastown Area School District resident doing at Kennsrd-Dale?

Paying tuition?

That is exactly the question that came to my mind as well.

I doubt it could be simply because he was on a work-release program. You would think the reporter would have known that question would have come to the fore when she spoke of Kennard-Dale and mentioned he was a Seven Valleys resident.

However, condolences to the family.

The police officer will have to live with his decision to pursue this individual at speeds up to 90 mph; if indeed, the newspaper article is correct. Doesn't sound like an unregistered vehicle, especially a motorcycle which offers little protection to its driver, is worth a pursuit!

News story lists his address as Brighton Drive which is in Springfield Township (Dallastown district) but I can understand your confusion. Brighton is served by the Seven Valleys Post Office. Lots of folks automatically think "Spring Grove" when they see a Seven Valleys address but that Post Office has routes into the Dallastown and Southern School Districts.

If I ever find out the name of the op- I'm buying him a box of donuts. Not the cops choice to run- it was this LOSER's. If this kid wasn't riding a motorcycle, at OVER 90 MPH, on a wet road, from a cop, and no license- then this would never have happened.

Kudo's to the police!

I beleive there should be a bit more thought in the police chases. Yes, you should stop and have respect for all officers of law but when a chase is putting everyone out there in danger it should not happen. In the town I live in a police chase cost a life of a innocent mother of 9 children. In the end they got their guy they were chasing...but at what expense?????

An officer chasing a driver because the bike wasn't registered...makes for an accident ready to happen.

Why can't cops just relax on stuff like this when it could result in a high speed chase and possible death? Is the revenue that important? People will do stupid things all the time, but choosing to go after something like an unregistered vehicle/bike doesn't make sense to me.

Bigger fish to fry and this kind of thing happens way too often.

I don't condone not obeying the law, but cops really need to take a deep breath and weigh the costs.

Personally, I have a hunch that often itís a power thing, an ego thing, and somethingís gotta change.

RIP, kid, and strength and peace to family, friends, and the officer. Pity.

Well folks, it is pretty clear that he was irresponsible and it cost him the ultimate price. Parents, warn your kids. And those of you trying to place blame on the officer, the guy was just doing his job. If the kid hadn't committed multiple violations, he might still be alive.

Teenagers always make a lot of mistakes, other wise we would all be born at 30.

Police do this for an ego boost. They should always know the results of chasing a kid on a motorcycle on wet roads. As soon as they got to 90 MPH a professional cop would have known. Mike would have grown out of this phase (stupid) and become a real man that any of those mall cops would love to be. We need to change the pursuit laws before the cops kill all of us... in the name of the law.

If it weren't so sad, it would actually be funny; folks worried about WHERE the perp attended school, and how about the 'work RELEASE program'...oh my! Almost forgot,'he had separate parents'...don't we all or are they somehow attached. "In the town I live in a police chase cost a life of a innocent mother of 9 children". Mother of NINE (9); kudos to the police on THAT chase; did us a favor...can't knock out anymore kids!
