I remember when the local churches in and around Sesser would get together and protest the drug store cause they sold dirty books and condoms, or would boycott P&G products because they thought they were owed by Church of Satan. Now it seems the good citizens of Sesser are possessed by that Oprah woman. Talk about peagan worship and false prophets. She LIVES for attention and fan worship, and boy does she get it..Its sick to watch all those scraming middle aged women swallow everything she has to put out. Now I dont blame the good Mayor for trying to draw attention to the town, but why that wierd cult-of-personality figure? Why not Trump, at least he works for his money.

Im just glad that Sesser has progressed. If it was 25 years ago and Oprah was not what she is today, I dont think she would get quite a warm welcome. Nosey newswoman from Chicago? And yes I will throw in the race card...Nah she would not have been welcomed with open arms.

lets review sesser great little town great mayor great people over zealous police chief get a new chief and you have almost the perfect place everyone seeks respect and this chief refuses to give it and continues to disrupt sesser's progress sesser loses alot of money from people not willing to come into sesser to buy goods because they fear being pulled over for a petty offence and although franklin county drops most of these tickets_its still an inconvienience to have to take a day to go to court. its sad to see 1 man disrupting a nice place like sesser

Maybe if Obama and Oprah get pulled over? I remember the old days in Sesser when it was just the kids in hotrods that pretty much got pulled over. Didn't stop them from playing cat and mouse with the cops. Are things really that bad in town? If it is maybe people should talk to the Mayor? If he is that good then he will listen and do somthing about it.

yes i aggree_sesser is the closest town to the lake and sesser businesses depend on the out of towners (lake people) for most of their revenue, especially on the weekends. as i talk to more and more business owners in sesser most agree that this is a problem but yet are afraid to take the matter up with the mayor or city elders out of fear of being targetted for harrassment. if city goverment does'nt want to address this then the people of sesser should elect new city government in the next election. if sesser is going to progress and prosper we need to treat out of towners like neighbors not like invaders from another planet.

I love it when somebody says a place like Sesser is a great place. Yep, all of those great shopping and dining options in Sesser, who could want more in a "great" little town?

Sesser is a nice place to raise a family. You trade in options and things to do for closeness and security. it's not for everyone.

Police states are never funny, be they Nazi Germany, Red China, or small towns. Funny thing is most people don't really know how they work. Most people think it is with great big armies of thugs. The feared Gestapo, was not millions of men in black trenchcoats hunting people down like in the movies. The Gestapo was mostly a small office of file clerks who pretty much just collected data. The people who gave them the information was ordnary citizens. People traded in their "options and things" to feel safe. So tell me what options and things you are willing to give up to "feel safe"?

As soon as a few minority families move in to the "great" village of Sesser, the "great" city will be widely regarded as a "slum" and half the townspeople will move out to Royalton or Christopher. The minorities could be doctors, but they aren't white, so they are ghetto trash. That's why southern Illinoisans think that southern Illinois is a "great" place.

You mean they might pre-judge, like you're doing with the people of Sesser? You're an idiot. Did you even realize that Sesser's best football this year was a black kid? Did you realize he was voted on the prom court? Take your bigotry and go mouth off in a forum you know something about.

The above poster said "options and things to do." Meaning, we don't have fast food and shopping around every corner. It's a short 20 minute drive away, however. Very convenient and a fine place to raise a family. People who look for garbage are going to find it, no matter where they are.

20 mnutes by car...hmm ok back in Sesser around say 1968 what did we have? 2 big grocery stores, at least 3 little general/hardware stores, a clothing/shoe store, a 5@1o cent store,a drug store, at least 3 cafes, several full service gas stations/garages,laundremat,ca r dealer, 2 chair barbershop, and other misc thngs like bulk fuel/coal/water dealers, mining tool and equipment, lumberyard, feedstores/farm supply, beauty shops, ect, ect. All within walking distance. Lots of people lived out of town and drove the 15-20 minutes to go IN to Sesser, not out. What do we have now? Closeness and security?
