I went to sesser k-12 and it seems to me they were harder on bullies when I was in school than they are now my kids just transferred here last year and I have had a lot of problems with judy logsdon. My kids have always been taught not to start a fight but do not be pushed around. They have both been bullied at some point and nothing would be done about it. My younger son is even being called racial slurs and again nothing he was then ganged up on by 2 boys while exiting the school and again nothing was done but as soon as soon as he was caught about to hit one of the kids a few days later yep he was in trouble!!!! SERIOUSLY he didnt even hit the kid just pulled his fist back! But he was quickly taken into the office and told that this kind of behavior will not be tollerated. So I guess the racial slurs and the 2 other kids punching him in the head and face is ok huh?

Its called "life is unfair" and "who gets caught in the act gets punished". Life is not a Disney movie. Learn to deal with it.

haha... Totally forgot to mention the Baumans and Eubanks....lol. Yep. Whoever you are, you were right there too. I disagree. I've lived in several towns and Sesser was by far the worst for cliques. At least in other towns it seems a person is judged more by their actions than their parents and grandparents. Like I said, the Allens, Heimans, Baumans, etc... they all got a good taste of karma, so it all works out well in the end. :)

Sesser School really isnt the best school at all to go to..almost all of the teachers pick favorites..either the smart kids, kids that play sports, or if you do have the 'right last name'. its true i go to this school,i see it everyday, and there is alot of bullying that goes on here not so much beating up, but really hurtful words. But the problem is most of the teachers wont believe you, and when they do of course you have to ask the other student about it and most of the time they will lie, and thats the problem to, the teachers take their word for it and thats why it still goes on.

Oh Boo Hoo! I agree with Kelly Joe, it's called life. I went k-12 at S-V and I was a nobody. I was picked on at times and I was "popular"/chosen for things (student council, prom court, teacher award, etc), was a VERY average student and visited principal's offices on both ends of the building. My parents never once went to the school or called the school on my behalf. I, as many were in my generation, was taught to fight my own battles. Treat others as you wish to be treated, hit back when you're hit but be ready to pay the consequences if you're caught hitting. I would not have had it any other way. I believe one of the biggest mistakes most of you make is the piece of your huge chip from your shoulder that you place onto your kids. They come in with a crappy attitude because "my dad said this school sucks", "my dad said I don't have to listen to you" and my personal favorite "oh, of course I'm not starting in the game, I don't have the right last name". I am not saying no one has ever showed favoritism, but believe it or not people it's not always about poor YOU! Here's a thought, maybe little jr. or princess didn't play in the game because they suck. Or their not on the homecoming court because they're mean to everyone. Wake up Stumpy- You are crippling your children.

Yep that's Sesser. Everything goes right back to athletics. Some things just never change. There is a reason that so many Sesser grads never can make it out of Franklin Co. My boys get straight A's, go to a school that is listed as top ten in the state (for academics) and where they are judged on their own merits, not if their dad was a basketball star in the 80's, or their grandpa is a big farmer. I'm not crippling them at all. I am giving them an equal chance since I only come from simple Old Ben roots and was not all-conference in three sports. If you want to "cripple" your kids, give them everything, make sure the teachers treat them special, and put the Friday game above everything else. Go ask the Allens or Baumans how that worked our for all their boys.

Dude it has ALWAYS been that way. The woods are full of one family or another, some branches turn out good, some don't. A lot of teachers are teachers because the parents and grandparents were. Just the way it is. Athletics? Always was and will be the entertainment in Southern Illinois. So what do you do? Hope your kids don't fall into a bad crowd and be a meth mouth. Help them and encourage them so they can go to college too. Don't worry about what the others are doing. Cant afford college, there are grants out there. let them do a hitch in the Military, see something besides S. Illinois and get their college paid for. Some dude griping because he was not picked for the team, or sat on the bench,or was picked on by the jocks, is just as bad as the old jocks trying to live out their glory days through their kids. I never watched a pro game of ANYTHING in my life. Who cares unless you are betting on something? Hey I might not be in the best shape I could be, but looking back at some of the jocks, I could be worse. I can run 3 miles in my forties and I would like to see the guys that were on the varsity team still do that.I am not 300 lbs. Not a greasy biker. Not a dried out stoner. No police record. Nor was I married to those types. I got a little college, been around the world several times, made and lost fortunes, and I took control of MY destiny, and not let others control it. So why are you letting people do that to you?

I'm not letting anyone do that to me.?? I didn't let the bias of my youth hinder my life. I too have been around the world several times, I have an M.S. from a top university, and I have made my fortune as well. My point is that I got out of the small town scene of my youth and found that the world is a pretty big place. Sesser is never going to change, it is totally stagnated with one generation passing on all their BS to the next, and the next, and etc... I get on here for laughs and to hear about what is going on back there. It's really funny, it's the same old stuff; you could just remove 2013 and replace it with 1993, 1983, 1973, etc... The places stay the same, the names stay the same, hell even the mayor is the same...LMAO. Small town BS never changes. If there is a point to be made here, it is that you students who have commented need to realize that the world is a big place and that it is not all like Sesser. You don't have to move to a city, but it is amazing in larger towns how there are just enough people there that most don't know/don't care about your entire family history. You are judged on your own merits. Ignore the school BS, concentrate on your grades, and make plans to attend a university. There are scholarships, grants, and loans out there. You just have to decide to create your own destiny. Don't get weighed down by all the small town crap and the petty minds of the people who perpetuate that stuff. It is in your ability to rise above it, just just have to make up your mind to do so. Once you are away from all that, you will be amazed (as I was) when you learn how all the "big fish" in the little Sesser pond are actually pretty pathetic when compared to the world outside of Franklin Co.:D

it all falls back on his buddies and who's not. if you are a parent that is new to the community and send your child to that school you better make lots of money and gain popularity for your child will not have a chance there. second alternative... go to the school have a closed door conversation with the principal and tell them to back off or else. it's sad that those 2 meathods are the only ones the work. it seems that most of the teachers grew up with a lot of the parents and if you are not in that category good luck. status quo is a huge factor at that school. if your child is being bullied and you're not in a category send your child to take matters in their own hands. punch that bully in the nose and he will not mess with your child again and it will detour others. trust me it will save them a lot of tough times throughout their career in school. its worth a couple days of suspension. the teachers won't do anything about it so you have to.

Ditto. We never had a "name" and were treated fairly.
Lots of whining going on here. There are advantages and disadvantages to living in a small town, just as there are in a metropolitan area. No one has to "escape." Sesser is a great place to raise a family. If you disagree, fine. To each his own.

Yeah, a great place...lol. I'm an attorney and I did a little research.... The number of serious crimes per capita puts Sesser ahead of Detroit and Chicago. With fine folks like Chad Heiman, Mike Romani, and Brian Risley walking around selling drugs, propositioning your daughter, or killing you.... it's just a wonderful place for a family. lol. Don't forget the pedophile mayor or the thieving priest...lol. Enjoy.

First of all, that's doubtful. Surely an actual attorney would have better diction that what you've displayed in this thread.
Maybe you're just not a very good one. And, even if you are, what does that have to do with this topic??

Hmmm... You fit right in at Sesser don't you? Lol. Sorry if my iPhone skills are not up to your polished standard. Maybe I'm just another product of the Sesser school system.?? Hmmm. LMAO. The relevance is that there are a couple legal sites I subscribe to that allow a person to do that sort of research and make those comparisons. Sorry if I offended you by bringing up a white collar career.

Jack, I get them all confused. My mistake. lol.

this is all bull- If you read it correctly, Mr. Heiman is the drug dealer... Did I make a mistake there too? Mike Romani was in the news for whacking a guy, and I had remembered a Brian Risley being up on explosives charges and something to do with an underage girl. If I am mistaken, then I'll just owe an apology all the way around.

I'm sure Chad was innocent, I mean he is an Allen after all...

I wasn't actually. This thread has become extremely convoluted. That way of life is a recipe for disaster no matter where you live... My original thoughts were that there were young people coming on here and making complaints and people were telling them they were wrong and that it was all in their heads.... That is most certainly not the case in Sesser. I just want to make it clear to any of them still reading that, yes, it does go on and that Sesser is indeed worse than most places in that regard. They need to look to the future and know that they can get past the petty small town BS and move on. The world is a big place, full of opportunity if you only apply yourself and make the efforts to achieve your goals. People who come on here and tell them that they are wrong, that they are full of self-pity, and that S-V is a perfect school so something must be wrong with them for them to complain are wrong to do so. They don't deserve that.
