Recently moved to Sequim and took my 12-year-old Mini Aussie to see Dr. Smith for a 'get to know you' and well dog visit.
Moving was very stressful on our dog because he had lived in the same house his entire life, went to the same vet for 12 years. It took a couple months for him to totally settle down and 'know' that our new home was 'home' to him. Going to a new vet I figured would be a repeat experience. Boy was I ever wrong!
When we first walked into Dr. Smith's office I immediately sensed a feeling of calmness in the air and she has all kinds of things of interest to dogs at their level. My little Aussie was immediately at ease. Yippie…this was looking promising.
Upon entering the exam room, oh my gosh, it was so 'homey' and not 'clinical' like our other vet. There are stairs for the dogs to make their own way up to the examination (treat) table. The dogs are immediately given incredible good for them treats (with permission of course) to help calm them.
Dr. Smith is awesome in my book. So caring, so gentle, so knowledgeable. She listens, takes her time and does a very thorough examination. She addressed my concerns and made sure that I got all my questions answered.
I am so very thankful we have found our 'forever' vet here in Sequim with our first visit and I recommend her highly.
Upon leaving and trying to get my dog into the car it was obvious he did not want to leave! This was a first!!!
