Stay in Portland then!
We need change out here, been here 2 yrs, love it! With gas prices so high having to drive 20 miles to a dept.store, 20 miles back, it will be nice to drive a couple miles to get things you need & not have to pay 2 times the amount at the small stores out here. Maybe they will lower their prices & we can get some real good deals!
Welcome

I am so excited and so is our budget. We sometimes just need a few things and end up at Safeway. It's a small fortune there because of the monopoly they have. I am so ready to have a Walmart here so that we can save some money. It's 20 miles either north or south to a walmart and Winco and 20 mies back. Yes it's the price we pay to live in the country but a walmart will help ease the pain a little!
So I say WELCOME!!

I find it truely amazing that people move near a airport or race track and complain about the noise. The same goes for people that plan to move to Woodland and complain about Walmart.
How about this..... Don't move to Woodland, maybe you should move to Cougar.

you will be happy walmart moved to your community. Walmart is very charitable we give lots $$$ to schools and non profit organizations and support many diverse local chambers. though i can not say that i have enjoyed everyday i've worked there, but i can say in that 5 yrs, i have been promoted 4 times i make over $13/ hr and am treated like family. GO WAL*MART!!!

Just found out today about the Walmart being built in Woodland. This is great. I moved to La Center last year from Portland. People in Portland don't like Walmart but seem to like Costco. I've heard the angrument that Walmart is a bad employer and puts out the ma and pa store, but so does Costco, Fred Myers, Target and the rest of those stores. Everyone in the business world knows that if you are not willing to change you business with the changing times you will go under. Look at Hollywood Video (some would consider it as a big business) it went under because it didn't change the way it did business - via netflix and redbox. I don't buy into the notion that Walmart is evil like the people in Portland do. Unions drive the bad news about Walmart. It's simple if you don't like Walmart then don't shop there, but please give me the right to choose to shop there if I want to.

Well, I've worked for Wal-Mart for a few years. It's not that great. They cut your hours any time they feel like it for the sake of profit, even if you are supposedly full-time status. They don't care if you can pay your bills. They say that's not their problem. They know people are desperate for their paychecks and will put up with bad treatment in order to keep their jobs.

Work for Wal-Mart at your own financial risk. I guess it's better than no job, but not much. I only stay at Wal-Mart because I can't find another job.
