This is a great story. Dogs are much smarter than many people give them credit for, and Rocky is proof of that. Thanks to his instincts, training, and persistence, this family is alive and well.

How can you-NOT-hear the smoke detectors???
We've got 3 in our house--and just one going off emits a piercing screech that can be heard outside.
Glad the dog had enough sense to wake her, I notice, its a shepherd. Smart Dogs.

It said she was getting over the flu. Have you ever taken NyQuil? That stuff knocks me out cold. And I'm an alcoholic.

Funny story. A canine once saved my life when I was an infant. The story goes I was found suckling the teat of a coyote for nourishment. Evidently, my family had been on a camping trip and left me in the woods. It was my good fortune to be found by a local woodsman and taken home to his wife. The woodsman was grateful for finding me, due to the fact that his seed could find no purchase in the rocky soil of his wife's womb. I'll never forget those good people.

Lisa is one of my best friends. It is so nice to see all the nice comments on here, I will make sure she gets on here and reads them. A couple of pieces of information. Rocky is a dog that Lisa rescued from an abusive owner, when Rocky first came to live with them he would not even come to you and hated men. Since she has had him we have watched him become this wonderful, sweet, caring dog who has alot of love to give..a totally different dog. Another thing is it may be easy for you to judge on if they heard the smoke detectors but I can say that Lisa was trying to get over the flu and YES taking meds and they sleep with fans. It's not even really an issue of smoke detectors it is that they all made it out with their lives..bottom line. They did find out today that their Mitsubishi Montero which was in the garage IS what started the fire. They are saying it was an encased wiring something so if the car had been in the driveway the house would have most likely not even caught fire. Right now they just need support as they have lost everything, just the clothes they had on that night is what they were left with.

My German Shepard is laying on my feet right now. To say they are smart is an understatement. This story proves a family is safer with a dog that is raised, and trained properly! Anybody in my house for the wrong reason wont be in my house for long.

Weak batteries will not emit the piercing screech, many variables!

Keyki, is there anything that they need? Ages/sizes/sex of children, I have a ton of stuff getting ready to garage sale I'd be willing to toss over their way once they are ready.

Oh well that is why we don't need to stop life of animals. They are are the senses that God gave us to lead us in the pastors. And you have people ignoring the signs of Gods gifts.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aquarius

The more you want to control someone, or someone wants to control you, the more difficult life will be today. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so the last thing you should do now is to act as though you own this person, or tell them what to do, because it will be an instant recipe for rebellion and trouble. Mars is retro in your house of significant others and open enemies after all. If you don't want to spoil the evening's celebrations you'll have to make compromises, and hope that this other person will do the same. Don't let the fuss stop you having a very happy New Year's Eve.
