Edwards still fighting amid grim prospects

There are 24 comments on the www.thestate.com story from Jan 21, 2008, titled Edwards still fighting amid grim prospects. In it, www.thestate.com reports that:

He came in second in Iowa and third in New Hampshire, seriously diminishing his chances of winning the Democratic presidential nomination.

Today, John Edwards' prospects don't seem much brighter in his native South Carolina. Nevertheless, the Seneca native and former U.S. senator from North Carolina presses ahead, showing no sign of quitting.

I'm hoping that when Hillary is president, she will pick Edwards as VP.

He is not going to be the VP. No one in either America wants him. I dont think he has the money to afford being VP. It is going to take a lot of money to runthat big house in NC and I dont think he has that much. If he became President then much of the house expenses would be covered by Uncle Sam. But hos law practice would have to be turned over to someone else. The VP does not get the same treatment as the Pres I think you will see him leave the race pretty sshortly and go back to being a lawyer where he will be making real money once again. I think this is an ego trip for him, just like his house. You do not travel on ego trips for nothing, they are generally very expensive.

Grim prospects? The heart wants what it wants, but logic prevails if there is time. Right now, the Democratic Party is offering a Jerry Springer approach to determining the favorite flavor of ice cream. We offer Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry and nobody is going to reach a decision. Edwards has a chance because he is the only one offering a shared peace and prosperity without regard to race or gender. This fight is personal. Selective enforcement of the law is wrong and only a lawyer would take this fight. Obama wants to hope it will go away. Hillary wants to ignore 12 million people are here illegally. Change from the "Top Down" is "Bold Leadership." Change from the "Bottom Up" is a "Revolution." Women can get away with a "Revolution" because if men tried it, we call it "War." Edwards offers "Bold Leadership" that will stop reading if America is under attack. I think we all agree, we need bold, accountable, leadership.

Edwards would make a good President and start taking back America from Corporate control. Amazing why so many people see that as a bad thing. Maybe instead of sitting on your ass talking about the good old days people should get off their asses and see what a shitter this world is becoming because of corporate greed.

Many people are too stupid to understand or see it. Corporate greed has destroyed our manufacturing base. My husbands manufacturing company has the "new Chinese employees" coming in this month to be trained on all facets of their manufacturing division. Eventually the facility in our country will be sold off. A few rich men will become even richer. The rest of us, lose.

ABOUT THAT RED DOG

This year, in terms of politics, the democrats could run the proverbial red dog and still take the White House and possibly more seats in the Senate because working class Americans are fed up with conservatives. And they are looking for any reason to dump the bums. The problem is we are in the family car, we’ve just left the driveway on our two week vacation, and Barrack and Hillary are in the back seat protesting like two pre-teen children with a constant stream of “she’s on my side!” and “mom, dad, he’s hitting me.” Suddenly the red dog is looking pretty good.

Last night when I watched the debates I was so disappointed. The first think I thought was, what the hell: has Barrack come here spoiling for a fight? And today, Hillary felt compelled to bring this point up in order to create a whole new battle out of the old battle; and Barrack, behaving less presidential than a 16 year old girl who had been dissed at the bus stop, decided today would be a good time to continue the bitch fest. He chose a different subject but the theme remains the same.

Regarding the debate, these two are missing a fantastic opportunity to educate America as to why we should vote for either one of them. Instead, they are each slaves to their own egos. That was never more obvious than it was last night in the South Carolina Black Caucus debate.

One irony not lost on me is that we are at a very historic point in our country's development – the first black man and first woman to be a serious presidential candidate; and yet, in midst of this so-called debate, it took the token white male, John Edwards, to bring the debate back to our reality - not theirs.

How, in the name of God, can we get past this and not do irreparable damage to our party and to our country. How can we believe Barrack is a “uniter” when he cannot even spend three hours in a debate without having his own meltdown; and how can Hillary convince us she can bring countries together when she can’t get past the smallest attacks against her.

Corporate greed?

Stop.

If you're looking to purchase something and find several prices from different vendors for the same item...Are you going to choose the more expensive or least expensive?

Does origin play any part in your decision?

Local companies and large corporations have to make these choices everyday.
Their bottom line is cost because the competition will cream them if they ignore it and they would be Out of Business.

Actually I am more inclined to spend the money to buy quality. You get what you pay for if you shop wisely - and sometimes bargains aren't bargains in the long term. And yes origin does play a part in my decision. I buy American when possible. I buy guarenteed factory replacement parts not knock offs.

Hey, laughing dribble, has anyone ever told you that you talk too much and now no one really cares what you think? They should have told you that several hundred posts ago, but I guess they were trying to be polite.

Let me give you some advice to improve your social skills - shut the hell up!

Edwards is just hanging around in case Clinton and Obama self destruct, or become unelectable. Then he'd be the front runner.

You are surprised when Democrats revert to identity politics and personal attacks? You been napping for the last few elections? Clinton-gender card,New Hampshire tears save the day. Obama- race card, Has anybody else noticed how different he sounds in a black church vs. white New Hampshire. Edwards- being the white guy he needs to play up class warfare angle despite his multi millions. A real Robin Hood. Don't be surprised when these dogs don'thunt in '08.

Not one rational minded person wants a Conservative Republican of any religious denomination in the White House or even near it for the next 20 years.

The neo-cons who were headlined as the brain trust, the intellect of the Republican party have screwed everything up so badly that we don't even trust them to raise their own children anymore.

Those idiots, some of whom may be your friends, are roundly disliked and they are the sole reason the Republican Party is on the ropes. This year, the Democrats could run Gravel with your aunt Nellie as his running mate and still beat the Republican's best.

I have to laugh at you.

You can't even define what conservative positions are yet try to make an argument based on your ignorance.

Bwahahaha!
