I think it amazing they only went after the cigarettes. Next I'm sure will be the gas, BUT what about everything else they sell? Shouldn't they be taxing everything??? I mean if its illegal for them to sell tax free cigarettes, why are they still open selling tax free groceries?

Well, I guess there are times when things just aren't fair. But rules are rules. They should have known the rules before they started selling in an area where their exemption wasn't valid. They should be happy they don't have to pay taxes on anything. Must be nice. I don't feel sorry for them when they are denied the right to do it where others are legally paying taxes. Sorry.

Its a shame that the Indians
have to fight their way the same way, that some of us white
people have to do,to get a fair
shake.Whats the sense of being
right,if you are wrong to begin
with.Fortunately the Law Enforc
ement community can do this on a regular basis.Imminent Domain is good.Dont pay your ta
es and see if the Indians will
share their lodgings with you.
Most of us are in the same posi
tion of the Indians. We need a
whole lot of luck,to get us
through this life

What I don't understand is if it is on reservation land why are they required to pay taxes? If I go to Canada to buy stuff I do not pay NY taxes. Trust me I am not usually on the indians side but I kind of have to take there side on this. They are a sovereign nation independent of NY and the US. Not even because they want to be but because we "America" made it that way. Now that the indians have become successful(casinos, gas stations, cigarette sales etc) NY and America wants a piece of their pie. It's typical greedy, governmental BS. At some point there is going to be some major backlash on our Government and rightfully so. Just look at history. Every great Democracy only lasted about 200 years. We have past that and if thing continue along its current path I unfortunately don't see us making it to 250.
