Oppose Mobile's Annexation Efforts!

There are 3 comments on the www.savesemmes.com story from Sep 9, 2008, titled Oppose Mobile's Annexation Efforts!. In it, www.savesemmes.com reports that:

Many people are wondering what can they do in opposition to Mobile's current annexation efforts in the Semmes and Tillman's Corner/Theodore areas.

There has been several meetings held by residents opposing the annexation. From these meetings, local elected officials as well as opposition leaders have identified actions that residents need to take to oppose and fight annexation.

First, write to all your elected officials and school board members. Tell them that you oppose Mobile's proposed annexation efforts in Semmes and Tillman's Corner/Theodore. Visit this link for names/addresses/phone numbers/email addresses: http://www.savesemmes.com/opposing_annexation/write_and_call.htm

Second, call or email "Sound Off" (Press Register) and voice your opinion. The phone number is 251/219-5780; email is [email protected]

Third, write a Letter to the Editor of the Press-Register. Here's the link: http://www.al.com/press-register/info.ssf?lettereditor.html

Send an Email "Letter to the Editor" of Lagnaipee [email protected]

Attend the County Commissioner's Meetings (the 2nd & 4th Mondays of every month at 10:30 AM) in the auditorium of the Mobile Government Plaza. Sign in prior to the meeting (at the desk right before you go into the meeting). You will have 3 minutes to speak to the Commissioners.

Attend the Mobile City Council Meetings (held every Tuesday @ 10:30 AM) in the auditorium of the Mobile Government Plaza. To be added to the agenda, please call the City Clerk's Office 251/208-7411 by 12 Noon on the Thursday prior to the meeting.

And very importantly, if you know of anyone who resides within the proposed annexation areas, give them a call or go and visit them. Educate them on the annexation issues.

It is very important that you attend all opposition meetings within your area to learn more information about the fight against annexation. For the latest information on meetings within the Semmes area, visit www.savesemmes.com

Sam Jones, needs to man-up an admit the city can't handle what they got let alone Tillmans Corner, if the city would pull the speed trap at Nevius Road an put the police on patrol they might have caught the copper thieves at the Cloverleaf Baptist Church. The people need to wake up ! Mayor Jones can and will promise Theodore and the other areas anything to get they vote. Just say NO !!! to him.

Nothing is Free: To all those trusting citizens of Theodore/Tillmans Corner area, who voted to annex for free garbage pick up/new park, the City has come up with a way to collect in advance of raising the taxes by setting up what appears to be a road block on Nevius Road on Sunday afternoons. I understand maintaining a lawful city but to have not one but SIX motorcycle cops writing tickets to 6-10 cars at a time at a minimum of $125.00/ea, seems ridiculous to have this "setup" during these economic times. For those unaware of the speed limit it is 25mph. Thank God I have a job and can afford my ticket for 12mph over. Thank you the great City of Mobile for keeping us all safe!
