They definitely still continue.... Guess what happened on Saturday night?
There are 2 - 4'x8' Anti-Annexation signs at the corner of Bear Fork and Moffett Road. They were torn down. They are back up now thanks to volunteers who took the time to try and repair and put them back up.
Now, this is pretty darn bad if these signs were torn down by Pro-Annexation people. I can't say for sure that this is what happened, but.... who else would be tearing them down?

I would not put it past the pro-annexation people to try to destroy or erase anything that would possibly sway someones YES vote next month. I wish that more people were more vocal about their opposition to this annexation. This silence by the anti-annexation supporters might be taken as their unspoken support for higher taxes and more Mobile City control of every aspect of their lives. JudyH, I am glad that you are making sure that the supporters of the City of Semmes are kept informed. Thanks

Got my husband--a first-time ever voter--out this morning to vote against annexation. We live one block off Moffett Road and so were ineligible to vote. All the City of Mobile and Sam Jones care about is the corridor of cash and not the citizens, or potential citizens, of Mobile. All this would have done for us is raise the taxes where we shop and still have none of the benefits.

It's all about Wal-Mart. Historically, annexation will occur near, or right around a supercenter Wal-Mart. I work near the Semmes Wal-Mart, and do NOT want this annexation. Higher taxes will eventually drive people away from smaller businesses. Especially in today's economy. Money hungry politicians is all this is about.

It was very exciting to watch the community take a stand against the proposed annexation. It was great fun to be the pollwatcher (not worker) to see the results and be able to let all the opponents know that annexation was defeated. Of course, there were great shouts of joy!!! What an experience!!

Okay, congatulations is in order...Now we have to quit patting ourselves on the back and get focused on what this was all leading up to and that is the incorporation of Semmes. Don't think that if we just lay back that we will be left alone. One day we will all wake up to the fact that instead of being this clean little unique area we will be the edge of Mobile or Prichard. Now is the time to get behind all your local businesses and push the Incorporation. We need to become our own city NOW. Everyone needs to get involved and get behind our area. If we want it to stay anywhere near what we have made it we need to take control of it. "Lets go, we have a job to do..." I talk to people every day about it and give them the information about this webb site. I want our little area to stay ours, NOT MOBILE'S!!!
