People who get put in jail here Friday, can get out Saturday. If they get put in jail Saturday, can get out on Sunday. Our judges here work the weekends too. Learn the facts before you post stuff.

Hmm my son went to jail on Friday and could not see a judge until Monday morning!! Wonder what is wrong with this picture? The amount of time they can hold a person before they are arraigned is 72 hours. This was the reason my son could not see a judge until Monday or what I was told anyway.

You are correct, gets down to who you know. I and others saw an adult attack a child, on the weekend, got out within a few hours cause the judge came in. Then on top of that, the judge gave em a slap on the wrist. Judge didnt want to hear from witness's or review the police reports.

Your right and the incident you describe is horrible. I am just glad the case with the DA is not being covered up like other instances of public officials have in the past.

A judge isn't allowed to review police reports or hear witness statements. If they did that, they would be violating the person's right to a fair trial. When someone gets bailed out of jail, that person still has to return for trial. Once they go to trial, that is when reports and witnesses are presented.

Thats what I tried to say, Sorry! charges and bail are 2 different things. When it did go to court, I and other witnesss were summoned as well as the the arresting police oficers were there, not one of us was called upon or our statements read. A small fine is all that was imposed. Meanwhile the the child had medical expenses from an injury that were left to the parents. When the parents asked bout filing their own charges, the judge said it cant be done, due to that the city had already filed the original charge and found guilty and couldnt be tried again for the same crime.

A small fine does not sound like much of a punishment. Do you remember the exact amount? How old was the child? What type of injury? Was it random or were there other factors involved? What was the adult charged with? Which judge?
