Central Florida has lost one fantastic doctor and humanitarian. It is rare that you find such a caring doctor. Over the years I have heard such amazing stories about this man, to the point where he is a legend among his patients and the babies he delivered. I credit him with saving my grandson and daughter's lives. He was truly a hero to many families and will be missed and forever remembered by the lives he touched. We need more people in this world who are as dedicated and caring as Dr. Willie B.
My sincere condolences to his family, I sincerely grieve with them in their loss. |

Dr. Newman was a truly great man,But was never any better in his own mind that each and every person he met. I met him a month or so before he went into private practice about 23 years ago. My wife was a high risk pregnancy going thru the clinic in Sanford. Dr. Newman told her he was leaving the clinic for private practice and she was to come be his paitent, "don't worry about the money" he said I want to take care of you. and that he did. I had the privlege of being able to do service work for Dr. Newman at his Office and homes over the years and whenever I was at his office he would see me and take time from his busy schedule just to say HI and chat for a few minutes.
Dr. Willie B....will be sorley missed. I am glad my life was touched by knowing him. My thoughts and prayers are with His family. |

I first met Dr. Newman 23 years ago when I was pregnant at 16 yrs old. He never looked down on me or belittled me. He always talked to me about education and the importance of doing something with my life. He helped me through that pregnancy. In 1995 I again saw Dr. Newman when I was pregnant with my twins they were born 8 weeks early and I believe they would not have been as healthy as they were without his expertise! I have gone to college and received a degree and have never forgotten his compassion and words of wisdom! He will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful doctor and awesome person! I am sorry there are not more doctors out there that are as dedicated and as kind as he was. We are all blessed to have known him!
I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers! |

Dr. Willie delivered our last 3 children. We are eternally indebted to him. He always made you feel that he had all the time in the world to answer your questions and reassure you. He was skillful and had that extraordinary mix of skill, knowledge, and genuine compassion. He inspired confidence and trust in medical professionals. He took time to actually get to know his patients.....all qualities that are sorely missed in today's health care landscape.
He saw us through a devastating miscarriage and saved the life of our son who was born with a life-threatening disease. He would even visit us at Arnold Palmer to offer encouragement and support. He has left an indelible mark in so many ways and made a difference for countless expecting moms. The world is a much better place because of Dr. Willie Newman. Godspeed Dr. Willie. Thank you! May his family find comfort in their memories, strength in their faith. And may they carry on his legacy. Our sincerest sympathies. |

I wish this story had also mentioned his personal courage at being one of the only obstetricians in Florida who was brave enough to sign off for homebirth midwives and for VBAC's. We will miss him and I hope that other OB's will honor his courage and commitment by stepping up to the plate and into his shoes.

What an amazing doctor and human being! Dr. Newman delivered all 3 of my girls via c-section. He was extremely caring and comforting. I would often brag to my friends that Dr. Newman would make you feel like you were his only patient on the day of your appointment. He would sit and patiently answer all of your questions. He was not the type of doctor to address your concerns as he was walking out the door. He took time to make you feel important. I will truly miss this wonderful doctor. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Dr. Newman was one of a kind. He took care of me through many procedures and delivered my daughter. He always took the time to see how your life was going. He genuinely cared about each patient as we all were his personal friends. I had still been seeing him even while he was sick and he remained so positive. Always taking time to encourage me and I tried to do the same for him. He will be greatly missed in our community and medical field. My condoloences to his wife and family as I know he will be missed.

I remember Dr. Newman growing up in the Goldsboro area of Sanford. He was a few years older than myself, but wore a nice big afro. He was always a smart young man and we saw his potential growing up. He truly made the Goldsboro area proud of who and what he became!
He will be greatly missed. My condolences to the family. Bobby (Bernard) |

This incredible man saved my wife's life 10 years ago when we had no money and no insurance. He never charged us a dime when he found out our circumstances. He truly was an angel on this earth. Thank you Dr. Newman.

I first met Dr. Newman when he was a gynecologist at the clinic on Park Avenue in Sanford. When he decided to begin his own private practice, I happily followed him because I knew he was the best.
Dr. Newman has been my only gynecologist for many years. I am saddened by his passing. I have built many years of confidence and trust in his practice. I am lost at the thought of finding another gynecologist. Dr. Newman's smile and personality were very lively. I remember how he was just as interested in my health as my personal interests. One quote from Dr. Newman I will continue to hold dear was, "Champ, always keep a positive attitude." He and his loved ones are in my prayers. |

Dr. Newman was the most intelligent person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I am a transcriptionist and I was lucky enough to do my internshipt for Dr. Newman and I learner more in those few months from Dr. Newman than I did in school. He was so helpful, knowledgable, willing to help at any time. I loved him so much. He delivered 2 of my nephews and numerous children of my friends.
I was extremely saddened to hear of Dr. Newman's death. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and actually anyone he came into contact with. I pray for healing for his family as they go through this extremely difficult time. I know he is in a better place and we will all see him again someday. I am truly sorry for your loss. |
