I don't know how or why all of this begun but I will say this. The end result will be more hate and prejudice among ourselves. I guess this is the life destined for America.
Research this.
No other Nation eat at each other the way we do here in America. Don't tell me about probs in England, France or whatever.. their problems stem from illegals coming in and not abiding by local law. We are talking about whites, blacks, hispanics, native americans.. this is our home and we are tearing at each other.
I will make a request.
Please stop!
There are far more important things we should be focusing on like the growing wealth of China. Yes China. You can look at them however you wish but they are 1.3 billion strong and in over the last 2 decades have become the second richest nation in the world after the USA and climbing.
In 10 years China could be the wealthiest nation in the world. How about dem apples?
Here are other facts:
They don't let outsiders in only to take our money
They are still COMMUNIST
They just recently doubled their military budget. For what I ask? Nobody is at war with China.
People I tell you today. We need each other. Our problem is not the Seminoles, Hispanics, Blacks, Whites in America it the Far East.
I have nothing against China but they are not democratic. IE One voice rule. So tomorrow if the leader of China wake up angry for no reason and point a bomb at us. Guess what? He don't need the House or Senate to approve. He is the final decision.
Wake up America!

If people want to send certain groups "back where they came from" -- Maybe we can send the Seminoles back to Alabama?

This article isn't a complaint about the Seminole TRIBE making money -- it is a complaint about ELECTED LEADERS spending funds on themselves that are supposed to be spent on the entire society.

And quit it with the "sovereign nation" mantra. I don't see the Seminoles with a seat at the UN, operating banks, travelling on Seminole passports, etc. The reality is that Seminole Tribe has as much autonomy as the US Government CHOOSES to give them.

All this gambling income is essentially supposed to be reparations from the white man. And the white man is dismayed to see it not being used to lift up all Seminoles equally.

And of course, money distribution policies based on ethnicity and percentage of heritage mean that Seminoles will have a vested interest to always keep to themselves and not want to see their sons and daughters even date another race.

Whats the issue here wrote:
you know...if the author of this article had control of a casino, would he still live like he does now? i seriously doubt it...so what's the point of this artice. The seminole indian tribe was almost wiped out of existence by the Americans..and if they want to spend THEIR $$ like there's no tomorrow, LET THEM...SO WHAT IF THE OWNER OF THE CASINO HAS A LARGE HOME, like the article said..ALL persons belonging to the tribe can get $$ for homes...This is like asking the President of the US why his home is so large..we have NO BUSINESS or JURISDICTION dipping into the Seminole affairs...i really cannot beleive this newspaper actually ran this story as a front page article..they shoud be ashamed of themselves for what they are trying to do here, which is obviously some kind of politicle move. SO AGAIN, WHATS THE REAL ISSUE HERE???
I think you need to call sun sentinel and ask them they seem real anxious to have this article out it being printed supposedly all week!!

The complaints are about the misuse of overspending budgets given to each council member for the comunity which it represents. The article I feel has everything to do with someone working for the state side or paramutuals in order to open eyes of the Federal govenment on how the spending is not in standards of NIGC and maybe will address this against the seminoles to terminate the compact or just have only class 2 regulations.

Tomorrow will be a new day and a new story! It's ashame that the paper knows more about this what's going on with the tribe than the tribe itself.

Agreed. There is the strong appearance that Federal laws are being violated. If so, this isn't an "internal" matter for the Tribe.

In trade for states having little authority to control/tax Indian gaming, there is supposed to be stronger Federal oversight. And it sounds like it may have been absent for a while.

Which is what we always believed until our Children grew up and things changed, then the different races became a blended society. Which is fine for you or whoever, just not what i want for my kids. I am from the old school and the blacks feel the same way and truth be told so do the Hispanics, all want their children to marry their own kind, if they say otherwise, they are liars.

And i suppose the Seminole Indian Tribe needs us the white folks to straighten out their Finances? Or do you think maybe we might just be poking our big fat noses where they do not belong? Because i do. We need to stay out of other people's business. I am so sick of all these do gooders. Too bad you do not like what is happening with their money, maybe they should tell you how to run your finances. And maybe some people need to get a life and keep it out of their Business. What a stupid bunch of worryworts. Thank God i am not holier than thou. I tend to let others run their own lives. You go sticking it to the Tribe, someone just might tell you to forget any compact, you dummies are going to lose all money they proposed to the State, then see who is laughing all the way to the Bank.

This series of articles is ridiculous. The tribe will do what they will do, it is none of *our* business. This series is nothing but sensationalism trying to stir up local concern over events that have nothing to do with us. It's peeking over the neighbor's fence and gossiping about what they've seen. Really dodgy journalism here, guys.

I'm amazed that people have so much to say about a group of people who you know little about. Native tribes across the country are for the first time being enabled to build schools and hospitals for themselves. Bettering the lives of future generations. Sure it is inconvenient to the exhisting paramutuals in our area but many of them counted too heavily on what their own slots would bring in and neglected the racetracks etc that were the basis that allowed them to get the slots in the first place. As far as pointing blame about the money. Why has no one ever asked the Florida legislature where the money that used to go toward education went when they approved the lottery. It certainly isn't going to education anymore. I also find it amazing that after hundreds of years of opression and re-education camps where their children were not allowed to speak their native tongue, wear native clothes or keep native customs we still want to take what is theirs. As far as walls around the reservations, it is only in recent generations that any indians in this country have been free to travel off of them. Many still look like 3rd world countries. For all that we've taken from them they are still a proud people and have learned to do business by the man's rules. But now the man wants to change them.
