I thought it was pretty good. The ending where she asked that man if he wanted to be next should have been left out, though.

I thought it was terrible no wonder people from up north think we are a bunch of redneck hicks they had us dressing like we were Amish or stuck in 1960. Instead of making it look like we were smart and advanced. Nothing in the movie looked like anything in selmer, not even the police cars. The movie was as stupid as mary winkler.

You must be someone who believe Mary was actually abused & Matthew deserved what he got. Sad.

The movie was so goofy! Those fake southern accents. Lol! I think its awful that people are profitting from the story! only in the south does someone get acquited b/c of a hooker heel and talk of "bottom" sex! His poor family!

1st I thought the movie was pretty interesting, I DO believe she was abused but in no way had the right to end his life for it, hello its called police and divorce.. 2nd Nothing in the movie looked like Selmer which was a complete disappointment! The county jail was a joke, from the cars, to her figure fitting jumpsuit to the ridiculously huge room she talked to her lawyer in and omg at the pathetic southern accents (that was prob the worse in tv history) and 3rd I think if Matthew's parents have forgave her then in some way they believe her so until you guys research her story dont post ignorant comments based on the movie alone.. O yeah and I do not for one second believe she said, "you wanna be next?"!!!

I thought the movies was good but then again I have always been a sucker for lifetime movies. I'm sure the movie wasn't exactly like what happened but what movie that's based on a true story is exactly the same? None! They have to differ to make it a little more interesting. The accents were horrible but the story line was very interesting I thought. I am not saying that what she did was wrong nor right but the movie was good. And the for all the above people upset because everything doesn't look exactly Selmer, who cares. If it did look just like it you would be complaining about that too. It's a movie! It's not going to be exactly the same. Just be proud Selmer actually made the news! I mean up until all of this who even knew that Selmer was a place.

Actually, NATIONALLY Selmer is only known for Little Ms Mary Winkler. Why do you think the town wasn''t portrayed correctly- they couldn't find it!!

well I didn't watch the movie cause I don't believe in paying someone for killing anyone and yes unfortunately she is ONE reason this town is known for but not the only thing.. we are also known for the tragic cars for kids incident and Buford pusser. Unfortunately Buford pusser might be the only good thing the town is known for

What's the difference in Buford Pusser killing people than Mary Winkler killing an abusive husband in a "Snapped" moment? Buford excused because of his badge? You think he carried that stick to steady his walk or bash people's head in? Just a thought..

1st. Buford didn't carry a "big stick." He was in a brawl at one of the bars with some people in the bar and instead of shooting them he grabbed a large wooden object and used it, ONE TIME. The movies portrayed Buford as carrying the "big stick" and it stuck as legend when in fact its myth. Much lole the whole Mary Winkler trial and the crappy movie. 2nd. Mary Winkler lied about her entire life at the coaching of her two attorneys. Want proof? All you need to do is take a look at Matthew's autopsy. His bladder had 1000 cc of urine in it. An amount that would be very painful. Yet according to Mary, he woke up, went and smothered the baby, argued with her, and went back to bed. Yet he never emptied the 1000 cc of urine from his bladder. It isn't possible. The very first thing he would have done that morning would have ran to the restroom as soon as he awoke and at the very least would have went before returning to bed. This proves the entire story about the events of that morning were a fabrication. I don't believe for a minute that Matthew was as abusive as he is portrayed and nobody, not friends, their children, the parishoners, or their family ever noticed. 3rd. "The Pastor's Wife" was a complete joke. A poorly directed and obvious "man-bashing" Lifetime stretching of even the lies Mary told. At one point even the State of Tennessee was shown backwards on one of the patrol cars. What a waste of money making that piece of crap film. 4th. Mary was convicted of manslaughter. She was not acquitted persay. As such she is unable to profit from the murder in any way according to Tennessee State Law. That being said, I am fairly certain she could deals with friends to receive profits on her behalf I guess.

I did not watch this movie until I saw it this morning on Hulu. Reguardless of if he abused her or not, Mary Winkler killed a man that was not in self defense. The courts sentenced her, she has served her time and that should be the end of the decussion. What we all think does not matter, even if we do not agree. What disturbs me most is the betrayal of my beloved home town. It is insulting to betray those of us privlidged enough to be raised in the South as uneducated, unstylish, and unobservant. It does not matter that it was "Selmer" or if it was any other small southern town, the way "Hollywood" has betrayed it is dishearting. Growing up in a "small town" has many benifits.
