What the heck is the deal. I was at a few games this season and it was like no cheerleaders were present.

The basketball cheerleaders are awful and the football cheerleaders aren't much better. MCHS needs new sponsors and the girls need to realize if they want to be a cheerleader its more than standing and looking around. Your there to cheer your team and fans on. There's not a lot of cheering going on, and they are cheering, you can't hear these girls.

I hear MCHS is getting a new football sponsor, maybe the girls that deserve to make it will get a chance, instead of picking the girls that are best friends with the sponsor. Michelle had her girls picked way before try outs ever begin. But she may be to young to handle all the drama.

True I had Ms. Miller and she was way cool. It's just sad and I'm sorry but Sybil.. Really! Big no on that one. No experience at all. She basically let's the parents and girls take charge that's not a coach

The football cheerleaders are very good. They cheer the whole game, even though their team is losing. I will not comment on the basketball cheerleaders. No matter what they are just in high school. Stop trashing them.

When did being in high school matter. The problem is all they do is stand around. Do I blame them no. I blame their sponsor!!!! The point of being on the squad is to cheer, no to stand around with arms folded. People in the crowd do a better job of cheering our team on than they do. You don't have to agree or like what is being said but it's a fact

Seriously? Maybe yall should try to stand out there for two whole games and cheer with a crowd that does nothing but look at you like your stupid. It's not an easy job I can assure you. Cheering is more than just pepping up the players, its about the crowd too. They have to participate too. Mcnairy county has some of the worst fans ive ever seen. They dont stand up and participate when asked too but when shirts or balls are being thrown out they expect to get one. The basketball cheerleaders have improved tremendously over the past two years. Sybil is doing an amazing job. She is a wonderful coach. She may not have as much experience as some people but she has a passion for it and she's dedicated to it. Lisa didn't have time for it anymore. There were never practices when she was coaching because she really just didn't have time. As for the football cheerleaders cheering a whole game well of course they cheer a whole game, I'm sure if the basketball girls only had to cheer for one game they could make it through a game without stopping too but you have to realize that they have TWO games. The football cheerleaders are good but so are the basketball cheerleaders and it's people like you that keep drama stirred up between them.

I did stand out for 2 whole games. FYI nobody said anything about the football squad. We had some lazy fans back then as well but we were able to get them going cause if we as cheerleaders just stood there so would they. I'm speaking from experience!!!

Then maybe someone should go to the prinpal and the superintendent and the school board members and let them know that the coach is not doing her job. That is the only way anything will get done about it, if enough people complain. Complaining on Topix won't fix anything. But you are right, The coach has no experience and doesn't know what she's doing. She has one job. She needs to leave this one to someone else.

However, ONE football game lasts as long as TWO basketball games. Basketball is 8 minute quarters and maybe 8 minutes of half-time. I believe HS football is 12 minutes and usually 12-15 minutes of half-time. Do the math?

No mam it's not. You also have to think about how much is called in a basketball game. Football doesn't stop near as much. Basketball has fouls and everything else to cheer through and football doesn't have that many.

Football starts at 7, over between 8:30-9, 1 game per week for 10 weeks. Another game or two if they make it to playoffs, which hasn't been past one extra game for several years.

Basketball starts at 6, over between 8:30-9:30 depending on fouls and timeouts, 2 and sometimes 3 games per week. Not including tournaments which are every night - girls one night, boys the next- as long as they're winning. Both teams have made it past district for several years in a row.

Bottom line, fb "on the clock" 2 hours for 10 games + 1 playoff game. Bb "on the clock" 2-2.5 hours for 24 nights, then at least 7-8 tourney nights. Oh yeah and that's not including thanksgiving or Christmas tourney games which they sometimes cheer at. You do the math.

It may be on the agenda to do away with cheerleaders. Too many complaints with the parents. Ever person does not have the same tools to be a cheerleader.

that bb cheers twice as long as football just in number of nights, and at least 30 minutes longer each night they cheer. If we're talking about who "works" longer hours, there's no contest.

Adults criticizing teen-aged cheerleaders is just appalling. Support them! Inspire them! Thank them. Encourage them! Be proud of them and value their contribution.

That would be the best thing to happen at MCHS. Do away with ALL cheerleaders. Just maybe some of the drama would go away. They would never be missed.
