@ Grapefruit. I read one of your posts above where you said we'll elect another Mayor in two years.
My friend the County Mayor's term is and always has been four years. If Mr. Brooks resigns or God forbid, dies in office a new Mayor will be appointed by the County Commission to fill the remainder of his term. Please get your facts straight before you go spouting off on here, OK ? |
Patriot this was a special election bc the former mayor resigned last year to go to work for gov haslam. So there will be another election in 14. That election will be for four years.

I see what grapefruit talking about. These knuckleheads don't read, they speak before they think. People like Patriot must not be from McNairy County, surley they not on any election comm?? I think Grapefruit knows the facts?

Ronnie Brooks will have to run for election again in 2014. The Circuit Court Clerk's office will be filled in the November 2012 election. Any other questions?
The successor to Ronnie Brooks as McNairy County Circuit Court Clerk will be elected during the Nov. 6 election. The winner of that election will serve the remaining two years of Brooks’ term in office.
Brooks was elected as McNairy County Mayor in last week’s election. He will have to resign his office sometime later this month. McNairy County Mayor Wilburn Ashe said he had notified both county parties they could have a meeting and nominate a candidate for the office. An Independent candidate can qualify be getting the signatures of 25 registered voters on a petition. Those are the facts,no spouting off. So lets get a good Independent Candidate?''''''''' |

I know how independents do in elections.I understand the no party help.In the case of Mayor, you need the backbone of 21 county comm to stand and say we are going to do something for McNairy County. You are going to talk with your district, explain what it takes to move forward in the 21 century. Its time to explain that the rotary phone is out of date. Each Comm must explain the cost, with the priority being on industry to support jobs, jobs, jobs, where our new generation may support their families instead of living off inheritance,or traveling 100 miles each day.
The Comm already know the Mayor Elect, there is no need in wasting time introducing yourself to the Comm. The Mayor needs to start the wheels of collecting all monies owed to the county. I see no other priority other than industry, jobs, McNairy County has decent roads, The Justice Center belongs to the county, with collections and good management the center should be ok. Collections for County Waste need collecting. Any tax for new schools will have to be voted on by the citizens. Remember the Mayor Elect asked for the job. |
Who controls the county commission? Gop or democrats?
Good question,,it may be sorta even..But if you listen to them, you get the ole we are one. Our comm do not have to declare,,they all run as Independent?? What you think about that?
How many committees do McNairy County Comm have? Budget committee, judicial committe.Roads Committee. what else? Who Chairs?
Yes, Mayor elect did ask for the job. Dems put him out as their candidate and he won. Why don't you just start a new topix. This one no longer applies to Cauley and Ashe. Cauley lost. Get over it. |
This is to "grapefruit". You seem like you have some kind of personal issues with the way the election results turned out. Mayor Brooks is a person of character, integrity, honesty and has 100% compassion for his fellow man. I would suggest that rather than commenting on topix, go and sit down with him and discuss your concerns rather than posting on Topix. I do have to agree that this "topix" is already over. Voters decided that. Brooks is the new Mayor and Ashe remains for another term. I just can't understand how anyone could think anything other than good of our new mayor. The outcome of an election always candidates who did not succeed. How can we not feel anything but compassion for those individuals. Cauley included. Sorry if you want to come back and bash me but I, too have compassion for my fellow man. This topix needs to be over. The election is over.

Please read post#343,347 again. Show me where mayor elect has been bashed anywhere after that post? All post have been Q/A about next election, etc, also please read where i stated how it appears that mcnairy county citizens cannot digest information. Finally how many times do i have to say i don't care who gets elected or got elected, because i don't belive either can move mcnairy county forward.
Now don't fringe on what i or anyone else or entitled by the 1st Amd of our Bill of Rights of the Constitution of these United States of America. You sound like a home grown mcnairy countian, lets keep things like they are. Answer some of those question if you can as to what Committees and who Chairs them. Be Productive. |
Voted, who is the democrat chairman in this county? Considering the mess the state party is in with chip f. If i was the dem chair in mcnairy id run for state chair if i were them. The brooks win is literally the only good thing that happened for tn dems last week. They could crow about that in nashville.
